Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

As a large company, you have responsibilities towards the share holders. In order to maximize profits, excluding minorities or downplaying their presence is common. Not saying it's right but when you want to release a movie in every possible region you may have to make certain casting choices. The s...

You could look up the ratings, which is kinda an objective way to measure interest.

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

Then you should know that insulting members is also against the rules here. If you want this forum to be a positive place you should always set the right example yourself. Insulting other users usually just leads to the topic getting messy. Please try to be a bit civil. The guy he's responding to i...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

Better yet, why don't you just go fuck off on out of here altogether? You're just another ban waiting to happen at this point. You're not making any kind of grand point or statement here: all you're accomplishing here is making yourself into a huge scumbag. (See folks: THIS is what it looks like wh...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

Politics aside, JK Rowling is an extremely succesful female writer and I think that's due to her eye for details. She did create an interesting world, with good written characters, both male and female. It's mysterious and cohesive. And it's an amazing world to explore, as evidenced by the recent Ho...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

Regarding Sanji, there's a difference between wanting to protect women and women that need to be protected.
It's all onto the individual if that's a bad thing or not.
To me, wanting to protect a woman isn't bad, as long as you respect how that woman feels about it.

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

Ultimately money talks for companies. They don't make products to be inclusive. Just look at Disney and how they're promoting minority characters and how they're being inclusive, only for them to downplay or cut those characters out of the movie for release in certain regions of the world. It's eith...

Re: A rebuttal to the defense of the Zamasu arc ending

The Zamasu arc is a mess in general. It reminds me of the Buu Saga, where everything is thrown against the wall and hoping something sticks, including a nerfed Vegetto appearance. It's clear that unlike the Buu saga, they didn't know how to end it. They had the "cool" idea to bring Future ...

Re: What is the extent of Kami-sama's abilities as uh Kami

Someone once brought up in another forum why didn't they wish for the Saiyan's space pods to be destroyed, which would kill them. But I think Kami can't influence things as long as it's above his power, not even indirectly killing ppl above him. Shenlong couldn't turn the androids into humans, but ...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

None of this characters are real people, they have no more free will than chesspieces. The choice of her not fighting isn't something she made, but something the writer did, and the only reason the writer does it is because 18 is a woman. Kuririn was a father, and he sure didn't choose not to fight...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

What if it's her choice not to go fight against the bad guys? Why does a woman need to fight to be a strong character? She was a mother at that point and I can imagine she wanted to stay to be there for her daughter. I actually liked the growth from rebel to family woman. I also liked her part in t...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

It really isn't surprising how a manga aimed at young boys has more of a focus on boys/men than women. Besides, for every supposed "bad" example there are plenty of good written female characters like Bulma, Who spends the majority of the first arc (the arc where she's most prominent) as ...

Re: When will Nozawa and Horikawa be replaced?

They will run them into the ground until they really can't do it anymore. I really like the idea of using the de-aging spell in Daima to replace the old voice actors and then keep the new ones when the cast returns to being adults. It's a smart move that would help the transition and make the fanba...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

I don't care whether a male character is voiced by a man or a woman, as long as the portrayal fits the character. There have been many instances where men effectively portrayed women and vice versa. That being said, some of the US dub actors that voice boys do sound forced to me, sounding more like ...

Since when is there a trope where specifically gay men are supposed to be scared of mice? Never heard of that one.
Are there any actual examples of this?

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...

Not really as she doesn't hate them. She spends the entire time pissed and complaining and whining and framed as this annoyance for Kuririn and Gohan, the two characters being intended to be the self-insert characters for the supposed audience of young boys. It's tremendously awful writing and abso...

As far as "remakes" go, I really liked the Path to Power retelling with that awesome art style.
