Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
I went ahead and picked up some Speedy Dub VCD's; a couple of movies and I believe the Arrival VCD contains the Ocean Dub.
I just love the blurb on the back, it's like a movie mashup.

Re: Is this the epitome of Super?
I want this real bad, I'm sure a lot of others do too. A time-skip and/or retcon would be the only real way to do this, but I doubt that would happen, and even if it did it would have to be handled well.LightBing wrote:Dragon Ball has to come out of it's comfort zone.

Re: Is this the epitome of Super?
I hope not, if Super really wants to get a better reputation everything needs to improve in every department from now on, not impossible lol I can't see such a drastic change happening where Super improves itself to a higher standard of anime so to speak. I think we know what we can expect with Toe...

Is this the apex of Super? (Future Trunks arc)
Watching the current arc in Super, I can't help but feel that it's not going to get any better. The story is great (if you can ignore random plot-holes), there are a wide range of characters being used, and the villains are about as evil as you can get them. The question is where does Super go from ...

How are some peoples avatars larger than 100x100? Did I miss something?

What's the source for this? I always liked #17's design, would be great to see him back in the show in a slice of life episode.Lionel wrote:Supposedly #17 has in fact visited his sister and niece before.

Re: Original In-house Funi Dub fans, why do you like it?
VegettoEX once said in his review of the first home video release of Kai that the FUNimation dub cast was a cast that he was aware of, but didn't have much of a sentimental attachment to. For me, that's kind of how it is with the Japanese cast...I'm aware of them, I know their names, who they play,...

How dare you! Kuririn would never use something as lame as a laser gun! http://www.kanzenshuu.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/krillin_figure_machine_gun.png He's a bazooka man, clearly. He's old-school. Geez I remember those figures, I think I even had a couple and never once did I question why the ...

Re: Original In-house Funi Dub fans, why do you like it?
It's definitely the music and nostalgia, those early episode titles were amazing. Watching it now feels like a different show somehow, but I guess that separation helps me to appreciate it within its own right and not have too high expectations of it.

Re: Dub Freeza and the effect of Linda Young
Ajay you say they shouldnt have been deviating, but there was no definitive voice to begin with. It's an adaptation of the manga and if the original version had a terrible VA would that still be the true voice of the character? Is the original anime definitive to the voices the characters should hav...

Re: Dub Freeza and the effect of Linda Young
But is Young's portrayal wrong? Was it the voice, or just the changes to dialogue and mannerisms? Yes, and both. This very website popularised the whole "Freeza never had an English language appearance until Chris Ayres came along", and I think that's very fair. Linda Young might be enjoy...

Dub Freeza and the effect of Linda Young
Before i begin this social-suicide thread, let it be said that Nakao is Freeza in my eyes, and his portrayal is above any of the dub portrayals in my opinion. With that said, i want to talk about the effect Linda Young's portrayal of Freeza had on the character and those viewing the show for the fir...

Re: Just why did Manga UK use dubnames for the subs of RF?
Damn, the treatment of Dragon Ball is such a shitshow here in the UK, a shame considering what a powerhouse it was over here. We only seem to receive the worst releases.

I was born in the year of the rooster, what a lame animal. Hopefully this will be a another big year for Dragon Ball, I'm praying for Super to be not only successful, but genuinely decent.

Re: What is the obsession with Jaco here?
It almost sounds like you are complaining about someone being happy about something and looking to know if other people shared his excitement. People are allowed to like things you don't care about without it being a comment on your character. I'm not "complaining" about anything, I'm ela...

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
I stopped watching a few episodes ago, but I still keep up with the episodes and watch clips of interesting bits. I think the issue is that having seen BoG it is just boring for me, hopefully I can start watching again once it moves on as I haven't actually seen RoF so I can tune in for that. I real...

How could the series possibly go back to how it was?
Over the years I've been here plenty of people feel that as Dragon Ball has gone on, characters we love have fallen onto the sidelines and the 'mystic adventure' feel was replaced by power levels and transformations. The sad truth of which we are all aware is that the other characters have very litt...

Re: Bulma's offer to Oolong in super episode 8
The implication was sexually flirtatious, but as others have said she was just trying to give him the courage and incentive to win the game. I didn't give it a second thought really, she's middle-aged in body only, she is still the same person she was at the start of Dragon Ball willing to use her l...

Hah, this made me laugh way more than I should have.nickzambuto wrote:Kid Goku is kawaii so it's okay. Adult Goku with his rippling muscles and 7 inch long fat dick flopping around would be creepy.
Kid Goku is just an innocent little kid, I think to censor it out would be to sexualize it.
