Re: Super Saiyan 3
Loved Super Saiyan 3's design ever since I first caught glimpses of it as action figures and promo art. It's just cool. But it's also kinda fucking silly. An insane exaggeration of what Super Saiyan's design already does. Yet, it's still just cool. I like that it aesthetically manages to straddle th...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 102 - Official Discussion Thread
Think of fusion dance as doing the Tai Chi form. if someone does a mistake, then it will feel wrong and won't feel natural. When someone does it properly it will feel smooth and natural. Going from one move to the next will feel easy. Now if they discover that there are other fusion dance and perfe...

Well I'd sure hate for something funny and subversive to happen in Dragon Ball.super michael wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:05 amFat and Skinny Gotenks are failed fusion, for when Goten and Trunks does the fusion dance wrong. There is no perfect those forms.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 102 - Official Discussion Thread
Enjoyed the chapter for what it was. Not really anything narratively substantial here, but seeing the Saiyans hanging out at Beerus' planet and having a little fight club is nice.
Fat Gotenks should come around more often, train up, and develop his own unique style of fighting.

Re: How would you introduce Dragon Ball to Gen Alpha?
Agreed. Not only is he a great villain, he has connections to the Crane School so knowing that he's a morally bankrupt assassin provides context for why Tenshinhan is going down the wrong path when he's introduced. Yeah, it's also treated as a big reveal when Chaozu uses the Dodonpa and everyone, i...

Re: What are the worst Dragonball hot takes you've ever heard?
Stuff like "the Ocean cast imitated the Texas cast" sounds more like misinformation to me. Lemme gather a couple of definitions to help narrow down my own criteria: Google: a piece of commentary, typically produced quickly in response to a recent event, whose primary purpose is to attract ...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain
I find the fight between the non-Goku characters and Freeza to be less him “playing with his food” and more just plain incompetence, particularly when he’s constantly getting blindsided and getting the shit beaten out of him until he decides it’s time to transform again, so he can comfortably domin...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain
I like how his fourth form subverts the expectation set by the preceding transformations. He keeps getting bigger and more monstrous, to the point where Kuririn is horrified imagining what it might be like. Can't have that expectation (and that subversion) without those transformations being what th...

Re: How would you introduce Dragon Ball to Gen Alpha?
My parents really sucked at the job of being parents, for the most part. But I think "being stewards of my media consumption" was actually something they did pretty alright at. I'm never intending to have kids, for a variety of reasons. But if I did, my policing of their media habits would...

Re: Do you like fusions?
That's what happened yes, but Gogeta was just being a moron for even bothering, since it's established multiple times that if you kill the shadow dragon, the negative energy goes away with him, so Gogeta waiting for One Star to use that negative energy ball to them kick it away with positive energy...

Re: Do you like fusions?
9 out of 10 times, the result is that the fused is too cocky and refuses to just kill the villain before it's too late, so no. 9 times out of 10 being...Gotenks? Because it didn't really apply to Gogeta in Z Movie 12 or Super Broli where he was the trump card (and I'm fuzzy on his appearance in GT ...

Re: Do you like fusions?
Yeah, I like them. I like the combining of names, outfits, and (in the anime) voices. It's also funny that there's pretty much always a dominant personality, such that the fusion might as well be "Dominant Person [Other Person Absorbed]". Gotenks is pretty much just Trunks (Goten absorbed)...

Re: Favorite DBZ arc?
It's hard to say, there's a lot to like across all four, particularly when it comes to Goku. --- The Saiyan arc was my introduction to the series, so it's got a lot of nostalgia going for it. It's easily got my favorite roster of protagonists, and it's pretty much where the art peaked, in my opinion...

Re: Supposing that things never went downhill in Trunks' timeline...?
Alright, imagine that Trunks' timeline goes perfectly then. Goku doesn't die as the heart virus never afflicts him. The Androids don't get the jump on the Z Senshi as Gero is somehow found out ahead of time, his main lab & underground lab both getting destroyed before the Androids or Cell can b...

Re: Once the current arc is over, would you like the manga to cover Daima?
Considering Toriyama got rid of the tail to begin with because he couldn't figure out how it logistically worked with clothing, between this and Beerus' own "ass window", I think he just said "fuck it, I'll just make some kind of hole back there for it." With Beerus, it's an out...

I just don't see Toriyama!Goku going, "Hm... Maybe fighting isn't everyting? Maybe I love my loved ones? Maybe I want to protect people instead of fighting all the time?" And then we'd get everyone trashing the old one like "Toriyama's vision of Goku is what matters the most, he isn'...

While not everything I like, much of what I love falls into the four following categories: Heavy Metal My parents are both metalheads, so I grew up listening to a lot of heavy metal. The first decade of my life had me hearing a lot of Metallica and Megadeth , and to a lesser extent Iron Maiden , Jud...

Re: Do you think Dragon Ball would have worked better if Goku died on Namek?
My preferred ending for Goku's arc is to become a martial arts master. He can't do that if he dies on Namek, because it's in the Cell and Boo arcs that we see him begin training others. So, I don't think Dragon Ball would have worked better if he died on Namek. He wanted to have Cell at full strengt...
