Re: Which of FUNimation's Name Changes Bother You the Most?
Tenshinhan to Tien firstname Shinhan lastname. Whyyy? That’s not his name Barry Watson god dammit *head desks* I can’t imagine someone being like “Why, hello there, Mr. Shinhan” that sounds like a bad parody. Similarly, Paikuhan to Pikkon. What is the deal? Honestly, I like the sound of Pikkon more ...

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Also, I was finally able to track down the Bardock special single, as well as the Trunks special single, so I now own the only 4:3 release of those over here. Excluding the VHS versions anyway. https://i.imgur.com/WqNVti4.jpg?2 My singles collection is almost complete! History of a Trunks is one I’...

Re: Funimation Remastering of Z - What did they do wrong?
All the replies in this thread refer to visual remastering and pretty much hit the issues spot on the nose, but Funi screwed up their Broadcast Audio track on the Bricks and Blurays. The audio mixing/leveling was played with, different than how it aired on Toonami which I assume most people listenin...

Re: Official "Show off your Dragonball Crap" Thread
In case someone's wondering, I bought the first 3 Z movies twice because on one I can have the Ocean cast, and on the other I can have the Steve Simmons subtitles for watching the Japanese version as I'm not a fan of the subs on the Pioneer movies. I’ve been collecting the old DVD releases and I th...

Re: Is Watching the Movies Necessary?
Necessary? No, but I feel like the movies have an oddly specific fanbase, at least in the US. Despite being short, and noncanon, there's a loooot of hype for Cooler, Broly, and Janemba, especially among the early 2000s Toonami crowd. So if I understand your question, you might want to watch movies 5...

Re: Which of FUNimation's Name Changes Bother You the Most?
For me, it's the lack of a name change that bothers me the most. Vegito doesn't make sense in English like it does in Japanese because Vegeta calls Goku Kakarot and not Kakarotto. It should've been Vegerot like in the manga translation. Doesn't hurt anything.

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
I decided to start collecting the 4:3 movies. I saw these 2 at a local store for cheap and decided I should go ahead and get them all over time. I'm just trying to remember if the DB movies are available in 4:3 at all. Also, can anyone confirm if the Lord Slug disc has a weird feel to it? The image...

Re: How good was the Saiyan Saga as a jumping on point?
Not good, but Dragon Ball had failed twice in America before FUNi started where they did. Goku's reveal as a Saiyan and Piccolo teaming up with him doesn't have a fraction of the gravity it does in the context of Dragon Ball. The Raditz fight and his kidnapping Gohan is pretty awesome though, so it ...

Re: Be honest, what was the worst saga of the Original FUNimation Dub?
Now, I am probably the most accepting of what others would consider crappy dubbing on this board. But even I can't defend the Frieza saga. The worst thing I've ever seen in regards to dubbing is I have a little proposition. I'd like to ask you in my native language. aLOaqutiaKUbiLIAGH It means. Let'...

Personally? Wouldn't bother me, if this alternate universe provided Yamamoto all the way through on home release
I will say DBZ original has definite merit. Filler can be seen as character building, and long fight scenes build tension

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Level 1.1
Man, I wish that the level sets had been finished up to at least 2.1 or 2.2 That way, it would be both a complete set of the Ultimate Uncut Edition dub, and the Japanese dub, up through episode 67 where the Ocean Dub ends. As someone with all the old singles, it's impossible to watch the series subb...

Re: Does anyone ever actually watch the Z dub with the Kikuchi score?
The first time I ever watched the Orange Bricks/Blu-Rays, I did for the Saiyan + Namek sagas because I don't like Johnson's UUE score. However, I do have a soft spot for Faulconer so I switched over at that part. Regardless, if I want to hear Kikuchi, I'll go fully subbed. The difference in tone is ...

Nope! Fantastic English dub but the fact that they only use the misplaced bastard child of the Kikuchi score ruins it for me. Not a fan of Sumitomo either.

Re: Things that grind your gears
How they took the good Yamamoto score for Kai and replaced it with Kikuchi. That sounds okay on paper (even though all of DBZ already exists with Kikuchi and the Yamamoto score helps distinguish Kai as more of a different show) but then they went and placed all of the tracks horribly. How hard could...

Re: All-purpose Dragon Ball sale/trade thread.
Dang. I just want the discs. I don't even care about the box sets or anything. I had the whole set, but I had to sell them for college. :( As a collector of the singles, yeah they go for way more than that. Z alone has over 80 discs. That would be less that 2.50 apiece. For that price you could get...

Re: Why is Vegeta more popular than Piccolo?
Vegeta goes from a great villain, as he has a connection to Goku by way of being a Saiyan (and Saiyan pride is a big part of his character) to becoming a begrudging rival which works so well because he’s so similar to Goku. Goku hit Super Saiyan first, and Vegeta strive to surpass him, which Piccolo...

Re: Can I just ignore Super's existence?
I do. It feels like nothing but fan service to sell merchandise at this point. You’re telling me that after all of GT, that Pan, Gohan’s daughter can’t go super saiyan despite Trunks doing it in diapers? And that all of a sudden the first female super daiyans are total rule 34 bait? A total slap in ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I like the Buu arc the best. I like the Saiyan arc the least. (out of Z) idk, I think that’s a pretty valid opinion. Saiyan arc feels rushed in some places (fight with Raditz) and fillery to the point of annoyance in others (Snake Way, Gohan’s training) beloved characters are immediately obliterate...

Trunks-Mysterious Youth DVD single. One of my favorite parts of the show and it took me this long to get it considering I’ve been collecting singles for six months now.
