Wouldn't that make short posts seem longer?

Yes, with a pretty modest bump to 100x100 posts would still be a bit longer. Even with the increase in resolution computers have had, 140 seems excessive.

Fox666, VegettoEX responded to a request for a size limit increase a few months ago.
VegettoEX wrote:To be honest, part of the original 80x80 requirement was to see if people actually took the time to read... or at least skim... the forum rules. When someone registered with a gigantic avatar and images in their signature, it was pretty easy to tell what kind of a community member they'd be.

Nothing has significantly changed about the Internet since we put in the avatar size rule, so I don't particularly see a reason/need to change it.

Seriously, some people might just look at the rules to check the avatar resolution without reading the rest. Not to mention that the 80x80 size is displayed in the avatar section control panel...

So I don't see how that tell you what kind of person registered. At best it will tell you if that person is a super hyper noob... =/

I would prefer that way. I don't like how 1 lines posts fit in the forum layout.

You'd be surprised at how often that happened before the forum auto-scaled avatars.

Do you really need that to tell if the person is the greatest noob ever...?

I too support the petition for a slight bump-up to 100x100 for avatars. It'd make the forum look a little bit nicer in an age where screen resolutions are getting higher and higher, without going overboard. Plus it'd allow us creative types who like to hand-craft our own avatars to show off a bit more easily.

100x100 avatars please. Only a 20 px increase in height of short posts, but a 20 px increase in width which makes it look better since there's too much empty space IMO and better-quality avatars (which were resized from 100x100 to 80x80) and people happy.

I'm not on an absolutely huge monitor resolution like some of you (1366x768, I think) but if avatars got bumped to 100x100, I wouldn't have to make two different sizes of the same avatar; 80x80 for DaizEX and 100x100 for everywhere else. It'd be a bit more convenient for me that way.

I understand Mike's reasoning for not changing it, but as large as forum avatars seem to be getting nowadays 100x100 doesn't seem to be too bad of a deal especially if this forum auto-scales avatars down to the right size.

Wait. If it scales things down no matter what, I guess my reason is now pointless because I don't need to make two avatars.

Since people are already speaking up, I'll go ahead and throw in my support for the idea.

I too support a 20-square-pixel upgrade.

I personally preffer much bigger avatars, but I'm a crazy mc crazypants in that regard.

What I will say is I have a very hard time fitting screenshots I'd like to in 80x80, but even just 100x100 I can make that work a lot easier (and yes, I just said "just 100x100", I personally preffer 150x150 avatar sizes but I wouldnt ask for that big anywhere that doesnt want to). As I just said, though, I'm crazy in avatar regards (and even in a signature picture I use everwhere but here) so I wouldn't feel right demanding it.

In short, I support the idea of an increase, but don't demand it.

I guess that (100X100) would be cool.

100x100 is a good idea. I want to have a full character as my avatar, but the only one that you can even see prorperly enough is Pilaf there (because he's short).

Edit: Well I obviously upgraded from Pilaf........... to Pilaf's robot!
