Just a note... If you want to discuss the game after you have your copy and have played it yourself, we ask that you use the new post-release thread. You can keep news and other discussion here for now.

Is there only one path for 'Hero Mode', or are there going to be multiple paths?

I've contacted Stephanie and asked her to comment, if there are any comments to be had. I should hear something by tomorrow.

It's so beautiful.
So Spike finally learned how to play music in stereo on a game or it's just that DBZAnto replaced the audio?

OK, question for all you nice folks. If Gohan's clips are recycled and they swap between Nadolny and Clinkenbeard, does that mean we also hear Linda Young's Freeza in-game? Or did they at least get Ayers to record all the lines for this game?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I am not sure if this has been mentioned at all but who is the music composer for Ultimate Tenkaichi?

I think in Japan they're still getting Kikuchi midis... wish Namdai would not be so stubborn and we'd get them too!

And wow, that's awful. Gohan and Gohan is one thing, but the two Freeza voices are so entirely different. What about Android 18? Did this happen with all characters that have new Kai castings? I mean, I could accept the original Budokai flaws in the dubbing with battle cries because Cell didn't have quite as different voices for each form in Japanese but this is... well, just lazy.

OT: How can they mess this up at all? I don't see how you can't tell two voice actors apart.

I don't think it was a mistake so much as it was them not giving a flying fuck.

We might as well have at least one sentence to sum up Spike's performance on the last few games.

I hear a lot of people saying they want CyberConnect 2 to be the next in line...I think I might want it too. But not because I want it to play like the Storm games. I'd like CyberConnect 2 to be the next in line because they would likely actually start with DRAGON BALL, THEN move on to Z and then include the GT elements we've wanted in the games.

I mean, damn! It gets just as tiring to play Z as much as it does that they skip everything else. They need to be freaking dumbasses to not realize that there ARE arcs that we haven't played a million times.

I plan up my copy after school and the guy at Gamestop was like "You are the only person that bought this game so far". I'm going to play it soon and keeping my expectations low as always.

I don't see how you can even begin to say that...

If they didn't care about what the hell they were doing, they wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of listening to the fans for this game. If you want to blame anyone, blame the fans for always complaining about everything (as well as Shueishia for their ridiculous demand of a console game a year and Namdai for not being willing to shell out enough money to hire two developers so they can alternate releases to avoid this).

I'm not saying you don't have the right to complain, you do, and I have been, but this is different. A lot of the blame needs to be placed on us. After RB2, sales were going down and they wanted to know how to fix that...
 • People complained about not having a Story Mode, so they added in TWO fairly detailed ones.
 • People wanted Character Creation, so they added it in, albeit a limited version.
 • People bitched about the graphics, so they changed them again.
 • People wined about the battle damage being crappy, so they developed the new character damage and Impact Break system.
 • People said the combat and controls were to complicated, so they revamped the fighting engine.
 • People liked PtEtSS last year and wanted more new animation, so we got reanimated clips from the series.
 • etc.
They tried to fix what we didn't like, and in a lot of the cases they succeed, but in others they tried to remedy the problem and failed. With all the stuff we ask for and all the stuff Shueishia demands from them, I'm surprised they even get anything accomplished at all.

They did all this, but they forgot the roster. But if we actually get Ultimate Blast 2, the I won't complain about the roster. The Character Creator is brnd new feature, so it's understandable for being so limited. As for the new gameplay system, I want to try it out myself, so until then, I've nothing to say about this.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I don't think they forgot anything really. They did a lot of work, practically made an entirely different game. They had to cut corners somewhere. I'm sad the roster was cut down as much as it was, but I can understand losing some characters for all the other work. But I'm still mad about the stupid cuts that wouldn't require any real work, mainly the removed forms for characters that are in the game. SS2 Vegeta uses the SS1/Majin model...how hard would it have been to slap a lightning item on him/remove the "M" and put him on the select screen? lol

Had they included these guys (mainly the cut forms), I'd probably have caved and reluctantly bought it. It would only mean adding in 4 base slots, everything else would just be added on to an already established slot: SS2 Vegeta, Base Preteen Gohan's, Base Teen Gohan, SS Teen Gohan, SS2 Teen Gohan, Base Gotenks, Base Vegetto, Gotenks Buu, Base Broli, SS Broli, Base Yi Xing Long, SS4 Goku, SS4 Vegeta, Chaozu, Gurd, Base and SS Goten, Base and SS Kid Trunks.

Cyber is too busy with Naruto in fact I think they were given more than one year of time for their games from the beginning. I don't want their focus split up and quality to go down for the sake of trying to dev for two major manga/anime franchises.

No they didn't, they had to do two story modes and a cac and still came out with many characters if not as many, Spike had a lot more on their plate, I am surprised they did this much with only one year. Clearly if Shue would get their act together Spike could be allowed to flourish if given time and money.
