DBKai: Vegeta's finger on the chopping block
A little heads up for those looking out for DBKai to see what's been changed. There's a new addition to the list of things to be censored: middle fingers. More specifically, giving someone the bird.
There's this little scene in DBKai 28 where Vegeta and Gohan are in mid-air talking to each other. Vegeta is carrying one of the Namekian Dragonballs.
Now in the original footage, Vegeta decides to flip one off at Gohan. In the new Kai version, he's simply holding up a fist at Gohan. Vegeta's middle finger has been removed (sort of).

What's wrong with the middle finger, whatever this is all I have to say about censorship, especially this kind:
Really, a finger is gonna screw up a kid?

I'm hoping that this is merely due to Japan's current broadcast standards and will be corrected for the home release.

I was under the impression the middle finger meant nothing in Japan, and that it was merely a random gesture. As in, it didn't have anything to do with the F-bomb. Please correct me if that has changed.
Perhaps these edits are to cater to the international audience should Kai be licensed?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
"Up yours" is the phrase that goes along with the middle finger in my experience.Rocketman wrote:It doesn't in the West, either.
