Why have a "no-killing" rule in the ToP?

The Zeno's clearly wanted to look at the members of the losing universes eyes while he erased them.

Same reason killing isn't allowed in any tournament. Murderers would always win regardless of skills.

Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.
