Just curious whats bad about super in your opinion?kei17 wrote:I'm just referring to Toei's recent creations as a whole. GT was a huge, probably the biggest disaster, but they had done nothing for a decade since then and the JSAT special wasn't half bad. It's a different story.sintzu wrote:You don't think GT hurt it ? I'm not saying you're wrong for thinking that but I'd like to know why.kei17 wrote:Pretty much everything what Toei have done since the late 2000s except for BoG. Crappy cheap-ass Kai with rip-off music, Resurrection F with an extremely amateurish direction, and the shitty sequel we have now. They all hurt the brand badly.

- Retelling the latest movies for some incomprehensible reason
- Lame and cheesy stories
- Crappy animation
- No use of the iconic sound effects
- The so-called "Toei Goku" that I hate

Really? I heard he wasn't a fan of the animation, but haven't heard anything along the lines of that.kei17 wrote: You know, even Toriyama is pissed off by Super

Toriyama has not described what he complained about with Super.Kid Buu wrote:Really? I heard he wasn't a fan of the animation, but haven't heard anything along the lines of that.kei17 wrote: You know, even Toriyama is pissed off by Super

I can't tell you the source because it's insider information, but he surely got turned off and reluctant to keep being involved with Super, so they had to provide him with some basic ideas for the plot of the new Goku Black arc.Kid Buu wrote:Really? While I agree with everything you said About toei goku what do you mean if anything super seem to make goku the same in the manga but much dumber really.kei17 wrote:pacz360 wrote:Just curious whats bad about super in your opinion?kei17 wrote:I'm just referring to Toei's recent creations as a whole. Dang really? That explains a LOT. I definitely understand why he wouldn't wanna associate himself with such a parody of a sequel. Toriyama shouldn't be ashamed. I wouldn't blame him if he threw some warranted shade at Toei.kei17 wrote: I can't tell you the source because it's insider information, but he surely got turned off and reluctant to keep being involved with Super, so they had to provide him with some basic ideas for the plot of the new Goku Black arc.

Wow i mean it would be better if Toriyama just left Super completely. If what you say is true it clearly means he isn't interested at all.kei17 wrote: I can't tell you the source because it's insider information, but he surely got turned off and reluctant to keep being involved with Super, so they had to provide him with some basic ideas for the plot of the new Goku Black arc.

Rumor has it that's he's actually Toriyama himself.JulieYBM wrote:Kei's been reliable in the past with having certain knowledge.TekTheNinja wrote:Then what reason do I have to believe this?kei17 wrote: I can't tell you the source because it's insider information
If he threatens to pull his name off of it and go public with the reason than Toei will more than likely give it a huge budget and staff increase to prevent that.kei17 wrote: I can't tell you the source because it's insider information, but he surely got turned off and reluctant to keep being involved with Super, so they had to provide him with some basic ideas for the plot of the new Goku Black arc.
If they're going to be involved with the story than don't be surprised if they convince him to do a Broly arc.

The way FUNimation marketed and dubbed the show helped perpetuate this notion in English countries that Dragon Ball is some mindless action cartoon only for toddlers, in the same category as stuff like Power Rangers and other cheesy 90s kids shows.

EVERYTHING after the manga ended, EXCEPT 2008 special and BoG. It would be perfect if it ended in January 1996, when Z 291 aired.
Re: What aspects do you think tarnished the Dragonball brand
I think Path to Power would've been a better place to end it at cause it was made to celebrate the anime's 10th anniversary and it went back to where it all started instead of being another Z movie with Broly.Kuririn Fan wrote:EVERYTHING after the manga ended, EXCEPT 2008 special and BoG. Re: What aspects do you think tarnished the Dragonball brand
I agree, ten years of manga, ten years of anime, 519 chapters, 444 episodes, 17 movies - THE END, that's it, no need for more Dragon Ball.sintzu wrote:I think Path to Power would've been a better place to end it at cause it was made to celebrate the anime's 10th anniversary and it went back to where it all started instead of being another Z movie with Broly.Kuririn Fan wrote:EVERYTHING after the manga ended, EXCEPT 2008 special and BoG. I'm not sure I'd go with no dragon ball ever again but I think they could've handled it a lot better than they did.Kuririn Fan wrote:I agree, ten years of manga, ten years of anime, 519 chapters, 444 episodes, 17 movies - THE END, that's it, no need for more Dragon Ball.
I think they should've waited 10-15 years before doing anything new and they should've had a plan with a beginning and an end instead of being reactionary and wanting to milk the franchise for toys and cards like they're doing now.

What's wrong with ending it for good? Is Yu Yu Hakusho bad because of that? Are 519 chapters, 444 episodes and 17 movies & couple of specials not enough?sintzu wrote:I'm not sure I'd go with no dragon ball ever again but I think they could've handled it a lot better than they did.Kuririn Fan wrote:I agree, ten years of manga, ten years of anime, 519 chapters, 444 episodes, 17 movies - THE END, that's it, no need for more Dragon Ball.

Of course not and artistically it would've been better for it to end for good.Kuririn Fan wrote:

No.
They are but as a huge fan of the characters and world it's hard not to want to see more even though more won't be as good as the original.

I know, but there's no need for it, look what happened with GT and Super.
And there are 519 chapters, my dear admins, Trunks special chapter isn't numbered.

I wouldn't be against this happening, it might be just what Super needs to at least not look worse than DB, Z and GT.sintzu wrote:If he threatens to pull his name off of it and go public with the reason than Toei will more than likely give it a huge budget and staff increase to prevent that.kei17 wrote: I can't tell you the source because it's insider information, but he surely got turned off and reluctant to keep being involved with Super, so they had to provide him with some basic ideas for the plot of the new Goku Black arc.

If a Broly arc happens I think we can say TOEI has officially become a fanfiction company
