A familiar pose appears in Pokemon

This look familiar to anyone?

They do it a few times during the most recent one and while there isn't any merging going on, I thought it looked rather close to the Fusion Dance, especially when they end up powering up as a result of the ending pose (I believe it's just the two of them using the Helping Hand attack).

Seems like wherever you look, something resembling Dragon Ball manages to find its way into a series.

Pokemon has always been very heavy on referencing other series. The episode 2 weeks ago had a Hokuto no Ken reference.

That's very nice recreation of the Budokai audience.

Blastoise and Venasaur did the fusion dance in the episode with the talking Ghastly way earlier in the series. They became Venustoise.

Here is a quick GIF I made of it.

Plusle and Minun fusing is not really a big deal. You'd just end up with a Pichu.

Now Venustoise, on the other hand... THAT is just all kinds of badass. Image

As awesome as it is, that's not the actual dance. DB Arena, you crazy.

I always thought those series did a number of references to Dragon Ball. There's this episode where Ash is riding a ponyta in some kind of pokemon race, and the ponyta has that kind of super saiyan aura, except it is red. It is exactly the same as the Dragon Ball characters. And when pokemons shoot beams it is db all over again. At first I didnt think that, but after noticing every of these I think to some extent Ash's hair is a reference to Goku's hair lol but maybe that's stretching it a little

The two electric rats are no big deal to me but Venustoise? Fuck that's awesome! There should be an episode where Charizard and Blastoise fuse together by using the special kai ear rings. It maybe a total ripoff but fusions like that should be included in Pokemon DS games, it'll be super effective.

First, I still can't believe the show is still going...!! Have they even aged one bit...?!!!

And second, Digimon have used the idea of fusing two monsters into one. And that is called Jogress Shinka A.k.A. D.N.A. Digivolve.

And don't forget Pokemon's illegitimate offspring called Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yeah with DNA Digivolving is like second-most used joke about combining after Fusion Dance. Seen a few guys do picture jokes along the lines of "Gokumon, Vegetamon... DNA Digivolve to... Vegetomon!"

Kinda funny you mentioned Yu-Gi-Oh after the Venustoise part. (Bulbasaur and Squirtle's VAs=The Kaiba Brothers).

My cousin went to Japan a few years ago and picked up a copy of Weekly Action (a porn manga), where the fusion dance is performed by a fat woman and a scarily skinny woman to become a very beautiful woman.

So. Yeah.
... Maybe later.

That is probably the most unique and funniest use of the Fusion Dance I have ever heard of.
