Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
Lets say that they decided to adapt Evolution into a TV series.
Would you watch it?
Option 2: If it were a TV series but paid much more respect to the source material (ex no Highschool for Goku etc) would you watch it?

Re: Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
No. Evolution wasn't bad because it didn't have the time to explain it's story and it's characters. They were already bad.
I would give a TV series that paid more respect to the source material a chance as I really like wuxia which is part of the reason I like Dragon Ball so much. But if there were an American television show based on Dragon Ball they would change a lot of things as they did with Evolution for mass American appeal. Either way it would be cancelled.

Re: Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
I imagine I would watch it, even if it was bad (and let's face it, it would be). I can't form an opinion without seeing it, and as a Dragon Ball fan, I'd want to have an opinion on it just because it's related to Dragon Ball.
I can pretty much give the same answer for the second option.

An animated western Dragon Ball series? Yep, I'd watch it!

I don't remember DB: Evolution being animated. I mean the acting was far from it.dbboxkaifan wrote:An animated western Dragon Ball series? Yep, I'd watch it!

Re: Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
They could turn it to a cartoon series and regarding the film DB Evolution it doesn't really make much sense as a TV series, anyway.
Napoleon Dynamite had a live action film and then an animated season one series with six episodes (cancelled, btw).

Re: Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
I'd definitely give it a watch a few times at least. I mean, it probably would be bad, but there is a small remote chance that it would be better than the movie was, if nothing else.
I mean, look at the American Godzilla movie. It wasn't DBE bad, but it was pretty bad for being a Godzilla movie. Then came along the cartoon continuation of it on Fox Kids, as a pretty solid toon that was much more true to the Godzilla vibe. I could see a similar situation happening here perhaps, but chances are it'd still be 'ehh' at best.

Re: Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
If it's bad enough to provide lampooning material--as much as I disliked the LAM it was terribly fun to poke fun at--then maybe, but if it's just plain boring then no.
I'm still kind of disappointed (and a little shocked) that they didn't shoehorn Vegeta in there; so morbidly curious about what they'd do to him. (I still think it's possible they would've made Vegeta female; especially after seeing ads for that new Sherlock Holmes series with female Watson.)
Nappa however; after how he took off in Abridged, I'm not sure I could take a live action Nappa seriously without expecting his TFS counterpart. XD

No. I'd actually feel saddened that there even was a series made.
(Fanfiction link coming soon.)

Re: Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
Man, this is weird. I mentioned this in the chat room the other day, but I actually had a dream recently that there was an Evolution TV series. And in the dream I did watch it out of obligation (same as I did the movie), and I was considering writing weekly episode summaries for it. That's probably what would happen in reality too. But all I remember about the show itself is that it was similar to all those late 90s fantasy/action shows that tried to cash in on the popularity of Hercules and Xena (basically, people wearing warrior clothes and walking around forests all the time).

Hell-to the-no.
I'd probly' read online about how they're butchering certain story-arcs, but I doubt I'd give the time to actually watch it.

Re: Evolution TV series - Would you watch it?
The old dub is laughably bad.
Evolution? Bleh.

I would honestly lose my lunch if they did something like this....
