As of 8 pm :

*1 129,688 Dragon Ball Z: Revival of F (Toei) NEW
*2 125,711 Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno (Toho) NEW
So I take it this is doing good so far?
So far yes it's doing well and looks like it could have a higher opening day and weekend than what Battle of Gods had which is impressive because while that movie had no competition this movie was released the same day as the equally popular Detective Conan movie as well as Fast 7 and a Crayon Shin-Chan movie.

Whether it'll be number 1 I'm not sure, it might not be.

Seems like Détective Conan will be number one this Weekend.
The difference is now pretty low....
I'm really disappointed, cause even if it's not bad at all, i don't think it will be as good as expected (Toei)...
Maybe i'm a bit worried for nothing.

It does look like Detective Conan will be #1 but on the plus side the movie is doing better than what was expected because before there was mention of "if" it reached 125,000 admissions by the end of the day and it's actually at 144,000 as of 9pm.

Also bear in mind that even if the admissions between the two are close, DBZ has the more expensive 3D tickets so could still be #1 even if it sold less tickets.

Which ever movie opens at #1 will also be the highest opening weekend of the year in Japan so far. Both look like they could open to over ¥800 million.

Battle of Gods had 290,000 admissions opening day whereas Resurrection F looks to be at possibly 350,000 admissions so far. Again even more impressive considering the competition it has.

This is a good start though.

@Bullza
So with the pretty good opening, the Toei's Goal (¥ 4 billion) seems likely or a bit exaggerated ?

It's way too early to tell but seeing as only 2 films all of last year grossed more than ¥800 million opening weekend then Toei should be very pleased with how DBZ is doing.

"Rough Saturday Estimates (Openers)

355,000 / ¥460 million - Dragon Ball Z: Revival of F (NEW
340,000 / ¥415 million - Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno (NEW)

Both films are certainly aiming for over ¥800 million, which is incredible! There may only be 2 or 3 films remaining in the entire year that could match or exceed their opening weekends.

Detective Conan is probably playing stronger at Aeon Cinemas, so taking that into account (which I did a bit with my estimates), the two films are probably very close in admissions.

Dragon Ball Z wins the day, with an opening day that'll be difficult for anything to match this year, and it'll will have the higher avg. ticket price advantage over the weekend, but it'll still need to make it at least close in tickets sold.

And it's definitely too close to call a weekend winner based on the Saturday results. Detective Conan is likely to win Sunday, so the winner of this weekend will depend on how close Dragon Ball Z finishes behind it tomorrow."

- Toei did a better job this time than in BOG.
- The most beloved villain is back.
- Even earthlings kick ass this time.
- Vegeta shares the spotlight with Goku.
- Both have new forms

Come on, Japan! Buy those tickets!
A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.

Looks like RF is set to outperform BOG on opening day, even with the stiff competition. Nice going, Toei and Toriyama.

Broly's in this movie?
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Why do you have to drag Broly into everything, fadeddreams5?
