Characters named after foodstuffs

Post by DragonBallFoodie » Sun Aug 07, 2016 5:08 am

It's how I got my username. :P

And while it's a bit surreal, it's also cool that some of anime's most badass characters - Bardock (named after the burdock herb), Krillin (which means chestnut), Beerus and Whis (beer and whisky) and Chanpa and Vados (champagne and calvados), and of course Vegeta and Kakarot - are named for various foodstuffs. Toriyama also went with musical instruments (Piccolo, Piano, Tambourine, etc) and cooling items (Frieza, Cooler, Frost) too, but food names is his favourite pun and I love him for it.

I hope one day to see a character named Chocolate.

A true hero goes beyond not the limits of power, but the limits that divide countries and people.

Did you forget about the minor character, Choco? Well, I wouldn't blame you! :D

Every saiyan is named after food. And essentially every character's name in the series is a pun.

Wasn't there one of Tullece's crew named "Cacao" or something like that?
I'm back!

Lurking around here since 2014. Just an old fan who regained his passion for Dragon Ball since then.

Indeed, there was. Strangely, he had a bit of a Russian-based vocal tic, as he tended to say "da" quite a bit, if I remember correctly. I was never sure exactly what he was supposed to be, aside from just an alien in general, personally.

Kick my ass? I'm world-class and Super Saiyan now."
