Quote with Kids

Post by Super Sonic » Wed Oct 22, 2008 7:54 pm

Hey to the guys who have kids or might have kids eventually. Do you ever think you'll watch DB/Z/GT with your kids and quote some of the lines you remember while watching? An example would be when I was in high school one time I was watching the Superman episode "In Brightest Day" with my dad, and I didn't know the oath at the time, but he having read the comics in the 60s and watched the cartoons of the 60s and 70s, knew it and said it along with the Guardians.

It would be very hard for me to resist shouting, "KURIRIN NA KOTO KA?!!!!" I'd probably be doing the Kamehameha, as well. Yeah, so I guess I'd be dooming my kids to a life of nerd-dom by doing this...could be worse.

Aside from "KAAAme..........HAAAAme........HAAAAAAAAA!!!" I don't really know any lines by heart. :P

Off-topic:
In Brightest Day,
In Blackest Night,
No Evil Shall Escape My Sight!
Let Those Who Worship Evil's Might
Beware My Power!
GREEN LANTERN'S LIGHT!

I would so use the ring to make green Kari Byrons to make out with.

I know it now. When I was younger I was more of a Marvel person so at the time, didn't know a whole lot about the Lantern Corps back in 1999.

I don't have kids and don't plan on having them either but I do have a very large family with tons of little cousins I babysit from time to time. Usually we watch cartoons together and I remember watching Dragonball Z episodes (they have the dvds). They love the show, so yeah, I kinda quote some of the lines out loud. Sometimes they ask me a lot questions about the series and I spoil it for them but they don't seem to care.

We all scream out the attacks together. "Super Vegeta's BIG BANG ATTACK!"

I don't have kids (and since I'm just 15 I don't plan on having any soon), but when I do I do firmly intend to sit them down at least once a week and by use of a cattle prod force them to watch the entire 508 episodes series, in order, with the movies properly placed in between...AND THEY WILL ENJOY IT!!!

And yes, I will quote the major lines as they come. :D

I say "What's shakin'?" a lot. In fact, I even wrote a play and had one of my characters say that. And the play was performed. Yes, I'm spreading the evil. 8D

Hmmm, what else... IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND~~!!

If DB pulls a "we'll be back" and somehow is steadily accessible by my hypothetical kids who may have a hypothetical interest in it, then yes I'd watch it with them.

I can't think of any "catch phrases" from DB that I'd remember. Maybe "the great and powerful saiyajin no ouji", but that's only kinda-related as its just a phrase I've used frequently in fics and comics.

I don't really think of the attack names as catch phrases. Kenshin's "Oro?" or Sailor Moon's "I will punish you!" come to mind more as catch phrases.

Best Duck Dodgers episode ever. Hell, best recent show on CN. I need it back. Or DVD box sets.

I'll still be watching DBZ, even when I have kids. So, they will be exposed to it but I won't force them to like it or anything. If you do, that would be sweet, but I'll be killing them with grammar and being a coherent writer.

It WAS!

Random: That episode arguably even works with the Timm-verse DCU! How old can Killowog and Sinestro live to? Apart from them, none of the other lanterns appeared in the Timm-verse!

On-topic (sort of): Who would get the Green Lantern ring amongst the Saiyans? Bardock? Goku? Broly would probably get a Red Lantern ring.

They had Katma Tui, and a cameo appearance by John Stewart next to Guy Gardner and G'Nort.

Did it? Nevermind then. **Pretends it takes place between JLU and Batman Beyond, despite how Duck Dodgers is a few hundred years after Beyond**

On-topic: I just realized I'd quote Gogeta from movie 12.
