Why didn't Vegeta's tail grow back?

Post by Sshadow5001 » Mon Dec 07, 2009 2:42 pm

Goku's did until Kami stopped it coming back all together. Wouldn't it be a better to have had it grow back?

After all the criticism the Saiyans gave Goku about getting rid of his tail Vegeta would't wanna be in the same boat as Goku?

One explanation is that adult Saiyans can't grow back their tail.

Yeah, I think it's a matter of maturity, too. If Vegeta had EVER lost his tail in battle before, it was probably as a child, back before he was stronger than an overwhelming majority of the mortal universe. It grew back on its own then, so he'd probably assume it'd do so again. I doubt there were many experts on Saiyan physiology still around to correct him.

Maybe at a certain powerlevel, the tail is not needed anymore.
Remember that the average Saiyan didn't exceed 4000 in power, and Vegeta was 18,000 in power when he lost his tail, and I doubt that he ever was in such a harsh battle as a grown man to lose his tail. That would also explain his cockiness.

But to add one thing: It could also explain the Goku/Radditz tail incident where Radditz "pretended" to care about losing his tail, whilst Goku claimed that "he could grow it back anywho". Goku must have been unaware that it wouldn't grow back at an adult age, and Radditz knew that, and he didn't want to lose his tail, one of his few prides.

Perhaps Toriyama forgot about them, or just decided that they weren't important to the story anymore.

Perhaps the healing goop he recovered in cauterized (or whatever) his tail wound, stopping the tail from growing back.

The former portion is odd, mainly because after Vegeta heals up from his battle on Earth, he's told his tail did not regenerate, to which he then responds "No matter, it'll grow back."

It's likely the former, if anything.

Or Vegeta got beaten so hard that it didn't grow back. :p

No, he meant that.

Only if the dolphins sing at the moon while eating their potato salad. </sillier answer>

Probably not, because it's not really considered a critical or life threatening injury. But, who knows, maybe Vegeta's ass got a 1% increase in power from it.

Since we're on the topic, does Gohan grow his tail back after Vegeta cut it?

Wait a second... Is a moon required for them to grow back their tail?

No. Goku regrew his tail in Dragon Ball without the moon.

No. In fact, in the manga, his tail only grows back that one time. All the others are filler and movies.

It's likely that Kami prevented Goku's tail from growing back by placing some sort of charm on it. Perhaps they asked him to do the same for Gohan?

I'd buy that for Goten and Trunks before Gohan. XD
I think I go with the "Adult saiyans don't grow tails back" idea.

The theory I like to go with is that being revived by Shen Long prevented him from growing back his tail.

My belief is that beyond a certain time frame, injuries will not be healed, and Shen Long will revive the character in last healthy state they were in. Like the way Tenshinhan came back with his arm, yet was still scarred across the chest. So when Vegeta came back, the lack of tail became part of him, rather than an injury, just as Tenshinhan or Yamucha's scars (which were already part of them, but anyway...) Plus the fact that his wound would have been healed over in the healing tank wouldn't have helped the case, but it is likely the Saiya-jin would have known if that affected it.

So, when Shen Long put Humpty Dumpty together again, he was missing a piece, so we got Vegeta in "as is" condition.

Pointless speculation... if it makes any sense... :P
