Colored Manga

Post by dragonpearls » Tue Feb 01, 2005 8:43 pm

I notest in the manga that some of the pages are colored.
....I know what your going to say, "Every comic has color pages"!

I know that.

But being that its in black and white, it doesn't make much of a different compare to the rest of the book (I think anyway).

Well, my question is: Has there ever been any actual color pages in the manga?

No, in the manga there has not been any colored pages except for the Shonen Jump which may be what you are refering to.

Yes,

Some chapters were printed in color in the original Weekly Jump. Some examples are in our American Shonen Jump as well... All Color chapters are now availible in the Kanzenban releases.

Will the Kanzenban ever be translated and shipped to America so I can buy it?

No plans... right now, they are releasing the regular Tankoubon editions although no one really knows if they'll print the original or Kanzenban ending...

Maybe they would print both (after the ending, they would have a page explaining what happened followed by the other ending).

It's possible that Viz will print the alternative ending (I'd prefer they'd print both--the original, and have the alternative one follow that), but I doubt they'll print the Kanzenban version of the manga. Not after printing fourty-two volumes of the "regular edition".

Forty-two volumes of the Shonen Jump edition, not to mention the (though incomplete) original Viz GN's and the unedited Viz GN's. Ouch.
I'm sure Viz would somehow incorporate the alternate ending in there. It just makes me sad to see Son Goku giving his trademark cloud away...

I also hope they'll print the new ending alongside the old one.

Except the Kanzenbans weren't published, or barely known to Viz at the time they decided to publish Shonen Jump. After they released DB in their magazine, it would only seem more fitting to have all the graphic novels of the SN magazine to be in the same format.

I have heard of the newer edition mangas that had an alternate ending, but I have never heard what the changes were and what happened in the newer ending. Are there any scans of those pages anywhere online, and could someone give me a basic idea of what happens?

Aww, it became a catch-phrase. I'm so proud.

Well, if it wasn't so freakin' awesome (and true!), it wouldn't have caught on :P.

Was that the original manga?
Hard to tell without seeing a picture, but that sounds like a regular tankoubon volume without the dust jacket.
