Did Kami know Instantaneous Movement??

Post by snakeyes37 » Sat Jul 30, 2005 2:10 pm

During the Saiya-jin saga, in one episode Kami used some kind of teleportation to bring goku back from the check point to the lookout. So, does Kami know
instantaneous movement like the Supreme Kai did? Or is this something he can just do being the guardian?

Thanks.

Difficult question, Snakeyes'. I don't think it's outright said what sort of teleportation-ability Kami-sama has. Then, however, I doubt that its Instantaneous Movement though, because it would seem that higher beings of that nature all have their own methods of travel. I am just going to say that it's probably a self-created technique to take him from one place to another.

That could be, my second guess would have been because hes the guardian, that he has the ability to travel between the spiritual worlds, heaven, hell, and earth. Just a guess.

Well yeah, as guardian he has the ability to travel between those coils of existance, but the transportation ability he uses is probably a personal-creation, to do it quickly. A means to the end, as they say.

x_x "Guardian"... "Instantaneous Movement"... x_x God, Shu(n?)kan Idou. >_>

Anyway, he seems to have several ability, like in movie 1 (which the anime forced to be canon) he falls to the Earth bathed in golden light. He's just... God.

That must just be it. You'd expect that he would have just teleported straight to Kaio's and took Goku straight to where they were fighting if he could go anywhere with it. He must just be meant to have the ability to travel between his place and Enma's place.

Can't stand the translation of the names of some moves? Shunkan Idou does mean "Instantaneous Movement." :P

I never even heard it being called "Shunkan Idou" before.

Anyway, I view it as an ability God has to move between the land of the living and the land of the dead.

"Shukan Idou" is the Japanese term for it, meaning the original.

I always thought of it just as him moving between realms, as he is the god of Earth after all.

I always call it simply "teleportation." I especially hate the dub name...Instant Transmission? It sounds more like some sort of communication device.
I was voted "most unique" and "most likely to become the next existential thinker" in high school.

How about the Ocean Group's dub, "Instant Translocation?"

Least it sounds more like "Instant Movement" than FUNi's is. I mean isn't transmission tied more to sending waves in the air than a being moving?

Considering the dub explanation was something like "you turn into a beam of light", 'Transmission' fits pretty well.

My idea exactly, although I do think Translocation just sounds better :P

According to the daizenshuu, Kami's skill doesn't have an official name. It's mentioned that he simply "has the ability to go back and forth between the world of living and the world of the dead."
