Why didn't Mr. Popo take down Daimao?

Freeza had never seen such an attack? Didn't he defeat himself with it?

This is possible in Dodoria's case, but Freeza most definitely had, considering he himself uses a homing variation of it.

I think its because the world could not lose the Dragon Balls before everyone killed by Piccolo Daimaoh had returned to life...
