I don't think he regrets anything,he just doesn't want to use him now.
He hasn't used Future Trunks since the Cell arc so does that mean he regrets making him an important character ?
That's a poor comparison. Mirai Trunks was a character set with one goal: "Find a way to defeat the androids in his timeline" after he fulfilled this, that was no reason for him to be a part of the main story anymore, and we already had "our" Trunks in the main timeline.

#18 is weaker than the U7's five fighters. It'd be a dumb decision to bring her.
So dumb as bringing Boo and Piccolo over Gotenks and Gohan.

Don't expect it so much.

Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.

It would be an incredibly long flight. Maybe having the coordinates alone wouldn't be as good as talking to someone who can give them a flight path or directions.

Super's space scenes look pretty sweet so far. It's also never been done in a movie yet, so it has potential.
I like the look of the ring (I assume that's where they'll be fighting). Hopefully it doesn't change much for the animated version.
I never thought I'd wish for Yamamuro, but I do hope he handles some of the action episodes. His hand-to-hand choreography has a chance to shine during the earlier parts of the fights.
I imagine the stakes will climb pretty high later on, so I'm just hoping Shida gets to do something damn cool for it.
I wonder who created the Super Dragon Balls? I do think that they are going to be the strongest set of Dragon Balls since they are the original set and they mention that they can grant any wish.
So I assume whatever is covering the ring (some sort of barrier?) will be the excuse for why the planet isn't instantly destroyed when these guys start fighting, especially Goku and Vegeta.
I'm actually a bit disappointed in the tournament arena. I mean, It's an okay design (it plays a bit too much like the Cell games with the pillars for me though), but I would have preferred if there just...wasn't one... These characters were threatening to destroy the entire universe by clashing not too long ago, and here they are contained to a ring again with the same rules as the Tenkaichi Budokai. Just like Cell noted, it just feels so restricting with that small of a stage and those rules, again.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Gotenks never even went SSJ3 in the anime version and it felt like a completely different fight. Who knows, Toei may surprise us.

That's not dumb at all. Gohan is weak and he doesn't like fighting for fun, so he wouldn't join a tournament with low stakes, and he certainly wouldn't train for it either. And Gotenks has a time limit and is unreliable, not to mention he could have possibly been disqualified at any time. Piccolo and Boo are both safe bets, #18 is also a safe bet, but both Piccolo and Boo are stronger, so it wouldn't make sense to bring her.
Maybe they'll invite the other gods of destruction to watch it, and all of them are also twins like Beerus and Champa (Hakaishin from U1 is twin to the Hakaishin from U12, U2 to U11, etc).

I can't help thinking this tournament's going to get interrupted partway through. We haven't had a tournament finish to completion in the manga with Gokû and friends present since the 23rd tournament. 24th and 25th they didn't enter, 26th was Buu arc, 27th they didn't enter, 28th was Gokû flying off with Uub.
