Honestly, it all depends on what they do with the story. A small part of me has a feeling that we might get 'more of the same', in a way - we'll get to go through various events in the series yet again, although this time through the eyes of a newer, 'younger' Time Patrolman, and will hear tales of what your character from the previous version managed to do in their tenure. It may also spice things up a bit further by including a larger focus on some of the DBZ movies as well, and will also no doubt start to take some further cues from Super (and Resurrection 'F', though probably again more so the Super version, since it didn't even really get covered in the first game properly). I would also hope for it to maybe start out further back in the timeline and give us a shot at original Dragon Ball as well.

Assuming we get something like that though, I do have some people I'd really like to see make the cut.

I definitely prefer having characters from the original run of the series that have potencial for a unique moveset than having more versions of existing characters because of "MUH FANSERVICE". Get the vanilla content first, than move on to whatever, simple as that.

I want to answer this, but I honestly can't right now because the characters I would select would change depending on what the next installment was like.

For example, if they end up changing the transformation system, I'd be more inclined to want missing forms from characters like Cell and Freeza added in. If not, I then I would be more selective of which characters and forms I want for future additions too.

Champa and Vados will probably be the first characters to be announce in the sequel. I would imagine by 2017 that the U6 saga will be done and over with by then. So Beerus U7 fighter and the five U6 fighters will probably be in it too.
