Look at the time stamps. The conversation was taking place around 12-1 a.m. our time and was totally done/defused by the time we woke up. We can't be everywhere at once. We do not have a paid moderation team that sits around and just waits for things to happen. Please remember that for this and any time "WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE STEP IN?!" comes up.

I don't know why I'm defending this. I feel defeated simply for having to address it. Please let it go.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to blame you at all. I didn't realize the time stamps, either. I was just surprised to not see someone step in, seeing as you all are usually on top of things. But, again, I wasn't trying to blame you or anyone else on the team; I understand that you all can't see everything.

I agree that fans should be respectful but what it boiled down to was a fan essentially saying "Schemmel sucks" followed by Schemmel joining the discussion to confront him. Schemmel was not interested in interacting with fans other than Penguintruth.
LuckyCat wrote:This may come off a bit too optimistic, but If they did come visit these forums again we'd get a chance to compliment them on their current efforts while having thoughtful discussions.
I think part of the problem is that, with a public forum like this, the genuinely interesting questions will inevitably get drowned out by a sea of praise (or criticism) and go unnoticed. Instead of a fun and interesting discussion it would most likely devolve into pages worth of users giving empty praise, asking questions with obvious answers or ones that have already been asked before, then you've got the users who'll insist on divulging their own personal stories to the actor. Honestly, if I was an actor in Schemmel's position I wouldn't want to deal with that headache either (never mind the potential trolls). He get's paid to do this type of fan interaction at conventions and I think that's where it will stay (aside from the odd Reddit AMA which.. have all the problems I previously mentioned).

Sean Schemmel registered his account to specifically discuss the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Kai, which was in turn a response to a Facebook blog post he made about its supposed replacement score, which he had heard, and declared awful. He eventually did get into it with Penguintruth, yes, but let's not rewrite history and make Penguintruth's opinions so thunderously loud that Schemmel came here just to bicker with him, or that anybody's feelings were hurt in the process.

Schemmel's post about Ocean Kai was very much a similar situation to the Penguintruth one though. He was responding directly to criticism about him, not interacting for the sake of interacting.

Well, no one has noticed or pointed it out yet, but I was awake at the time. All I recall about that night is being flooded with "OMG Sean Schemmel vs Penguintruth!!!" messages both on and off the forum, and the thread itself moving really fast. By the time I could read through everything and assess the situation to post a quick response, Schemmel had already made his last post. I wish I could have reacted sooner, but I did what I could as quickly as I could, and things did tone down after that (whether by my words or just coincidence). I'm sorry Schemmel may have gotten a negative impression of us because of one person's snarky comments, but the past is the past.

Sean did nothing wrong. I just went back and looked at his 4 posts again. PenguinTruth was 100% at fault.

I'm not particularly interested in moderating a discussion about the moderation of a discussion from five years ago. At this point I believe the facts have been outlined and linked to. It would be great if it could just be let alone this point, and/or move the topic along to other relevant points.

Whew, no. It was in 2010. Well, obviously Pokewhiz7 has already provided the proof, but it's something I recall so vividly I just had to chime in.

He yelled at me on his Facebook fan page and banned me because of his horrible experience on here.

Wait, what? Seriously? What did he say?
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Wow, that's awesome. Maybe the guesses of TFS voicing the Cell Games re-enactment in Kai will turn out to be true.

What ? Well PenguinTruth was being an ass but Schemmel handled it very poorly. Faults were on both sides.

Look at Schemmel what he posted it was clear he was not going to be posting besides to explain something.
Anyway this is off topic and it has no relevance.

It was so long ago that I can't remember much. All I remember was that he was like, "Why do you wanna know? So you can run back to Daizenshuu EX and blablabla..." It's just kind of a blur from there. He also said "vitriol" a lot. Like, A LOT.

He seems to have forgotten about it, though.
