Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
The last episode Naoki Tate supervised was #18, right? Does that mean that he had enough time to properly supervise the drawings and correct the ones that needed correction for Episode #25?
Sorry for this type of questions, I'm just curious about anime production aspects. I find them very interesting to discuss. How much time would be ideal for presenting a good-looking episode in Super terms?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Not only that Naoki Tate did the 2nd most key animation for episode 23, so his episode will likely suffer. By suffer I mean it wont be his best because of time constraint.raulvalente wrote:The last episode Naoki Tate supervised was #18, right? Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Since Tate did key animation for Episode #23 I do expect Episode #25 to suffer should he be the only good animator. At least based on the preview we know he will be personally handling the Kamehame-Ha scene.raulvalente wrote:The last episode Naoki Tate supervised was #18, right? But we can still expect something from him right?! I'm not following One Piece. The last things I know from him Is Sabo getting the mera mera fruit and a part of the last Once Piece opening.JulieYBM wrote:Shida hasn't been an animation supervisor for anything in ten years, other than key animation he only storyboards for other directors. I do wish Shida would be a supervisor for at least one episode. He was supervisor for the Openings of the 1990s game openings.
Isn't this from him?!

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Nope its not from him, its from a key animator named Takahashi Yuya.FortuneSSJ wrote: Isn't this from him?!

Yes, that was Takahashi Yuuya, probably paying a heavy tribute to Shida's scene from the film. The cool part in Episode #14 is by Oonishi Ryou, who did the Super Saiyan God transformation in the movie, too.

Oh I see. I need more tributes to Shida then.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Getting Shida to do something himself would be nice. Hopefully Hayashi will come back and do something better than his Episode #2 cuts.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
If they really do farm more CGI into next year's Precure, is it possible it might free up some of the animators who do multiple Toei series to come do some stuff for Super?
On hiatus.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Depends. I do not necessarily foresee PreCure using more CG with the next series, but it depends on the series director. More CG also will not necessarily mean less work for good animators, either. Folks will continue to work where they like. Majin Bone was CG heavy but Toei still produced a half dozen series instead of giving staff more time.Chuquita wrote:If they really do farm more CGI into next year's Precure, is it possible it might free up some of the animators who do multiple Toei series to come do some stuff for Super?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Aside from One Piece, PreCure, World Trigger, Robot Girls Z and DBS what other shows are they currently producing? I looked at their Wikipedia page and to me it seems they had a lot more shows running alongside DB and DBZ in the late '80s, early '90s. Actually the entire section for "2010 - present " seems kinda meager compared to the previous decades.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
The Wiki page is poorly formated. Toei is producing Kindaichi, the new PreCure, One Piece Film Gold and probably some other little things I am forgeotting about.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Likely Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3 already or soon-to-enter production

I already mentioned PreCure. And even if it's poorly formated, is the information incorrect ? I think I could see around 5/6 series being done during the 1990/1991-1992 period.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Try the Japanese Wiki. Also, Maho Tsukai is like having an additional series in production, so it is something to keep in mind. Toei is very busy right now, especially with movies in production.Michsi wrote:JulieYBM wrote:The Wiki page is poorly formated. I don't understand Japanese to cross-check with the English one, but again, they seemed fairly busy back then too.
Either way, some quality management is in order if they bit off more than they can chew, but if what people are saying is true about good merchandise sales then I guess they have no reason to change their policy.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Toei is the only studio strong enough to handle so many series at once but even then planning is so very important. OLM handles multiple series at once but scheduling is good there, so the series are better off.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
I know i keep repeating myself, but i just don't get it, Toei have in it's hands license to one of the most popular anime series of all time, yes, i get and understand, that anime is mostly used as commercial for merchandise, anime such as Creamy Mami did that too, to promote then new strategy known as media mix, and there was lot of care put into it, and next Studio Pierrot anime in that line. It is Dragon Ball, for god sake. If i were head director, i would make sure to produce as best looking anime as possible, even having to hire animators/scenarists, just for Dragon Ball Super.
