Apparently Tagoma is Sorbet's ring 2.0.

His power increase is absolutely ridiculous, but I hoping he's somewhat interesting, it looks like he'll give everyone a shot which is nice, the Ginyu thing seems silly though.

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
I think his design is pretty bland, especially compared to some of the other henchmen that I've enjoyed in this franchise, but I actually really like the character and what they've done with him so far.
I've always been a big Ginyu fan since his initial appearance, so I'm open to him returning. I'd prefer Ginyu in his original body, but that's just me being picky. I'm just a little apprehensive though, as many others have already said in this thread, I wouldn't want Tagoma's character going down the "silly gag comedy" route it'll probably go down with Ginyu involved.
Ginyu does have a past history for messing up when he changes bodies though, so who know, maybe Tagoma will get back in his body somehow?

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
I would like to see more scenes as to how he got so powerful.
His role in Super compared to the Ressurection of F movie is literally in a different cosmos.
Tomorrow we will find out if he's able to take on Gotenks. I know in the preview we see him getting hit hard by Gotenks, but we will see the full story soon.

He's destroys his own character in the Movie. I love what Toei did with him in Super.
He became a much better character than Shisami or Sorbet will ever be. But he won't be missed.

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
I don't necessarily think he was better utilized. Sure, he got to do a lot more and he got a power-up but those aren't the same thing as being utilized well or having a good role in the plot.
While it was weird that he died so early in the movie despite being promoted before it, I think if you ignore the promotional material his role is just fine. He's clearly more of a level headed thinker than his peers, and gets killed for it because Freeza doesn't appreciate that. All he needed to do was assist in Freeza's revival.
Super's version... I don't like very much. I just don't like his personality, it's boring to me. I get that his strength has made him really confident and stuff, but he's a completely different character to how he was before and I preferred the level headed version of him.
His strength is just kind of silly, and we didn't need him to beat up the supporting cast to create tension. It just didn't seem to have much point to me, other than being a very extended version of Tagoma fighting Piccolo before being felled by Super Saiyan Gohan. Also, Tagoma had basically no role in Super, so it's like just swapping one for the other.
And then Ginyu took over his body. Given that RF was pretty big on bringing back older characters and tossing out newer ones (Freeza coming back, older fighters being involved while newer characters were handwaved out) it seems perfectly logical that Tagoma would be thrown aside so that Ginyu could come back. But it did mean all that extra focus was pretty pointless. Why even try and build up the newer character if you're just going to quickly rely on the established reputation of previous characters?

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
I think the FnF arc of Super has been quite weird, (Piccolo dying again, Ginyu returning, Gotenks defusing immediately) with all of the stuff that happened in the arc so far I think Tagoma is far from the worst thing in the arc. His power is quite random though, I'll admit that. I just hope he didn't gain a massive boost in power JUST for Ginyu to return. I will say one thing though, he is more memorable than Sorbet or Shisami.

Hey at least we got an explanation on how Tagoma become so strong unlike in the movie where we have Shisami giving Piccolo a run for his money with no explanation how he got so strong whatsoever.

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
Well, considering he got Zeeun'd in RoF, I don't have much to go on with him.
Considering in Super he outlived his RoF-self, good for him. However, he seems to be target numero uno for the body-snatching Captain Ginyu (how did he get wished back from when Buu blew up the Earth AND in the frog body?).

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
What do I think of Tagoma? I look at him as by far the strongest Freeza soldier ever in the Dragonball franchise. Such loyalty to serve Freeza's purpose. So much potential. But just a disappointing end, especially with Super's version of events. In the movie he was too insignificant to mention.
If you think about it, since Ginyu took over Tagoma's body, Vegeta has now killed all of the 5 members of the Ginyu force.
Poor Tagoma is now going to live the rest of his life a frog, and since he doesn't appear to know the body change technique, it's a sad ending indeed.

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
I'll always remember him as that one minion who attained such inconceivably absurd levels of power in such an unrealistic window of time that he makes Piccolo's tussle with Freeza after fusing with Nail and the Namek Zenkais blush as they stare in bewilderment at this upstart who came from nowhere. This is also coming from a mostly uninformed point of view, though, since I'm mostly following the manga's progress instead of the anime's.

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
This may not be true, but I am proceeding under the assumption that the movies more accurately represent Toriyama's vision of the story-lines, and Super makes changes/adds filler like the old anime did in relation to the manga.
Therefore, Tagoma dies in space outside of Freeza's ship and I have no opinion of him other than I like his visual design. Who is this powerfully-inconsistent, plot-dragging, cringe-worthy, toss-away-excuse-for-Ginyu's-return that you speak of?

It was simply fan service to bring back Ginyu. I mean if it was that easy to change bodies with someone when he was a frog, why the hell did it take him so many years to finally do it on someone?batistabus wrote:This may not be true, but I am proceeding under the assumption that the movies more accurately represent Toriyama's vision of the story-lines, and Super makes changes/adds filler like the old anime did in relation to the manga.

Bringing back Ginyu served no progress on the plot, and they quickly got rid of him as quick as he came.

Because no one other than Freeza's soldiers could read the symbols Frog Ginyu scribbled on the ground.omaro34 wrote:It was simply fan service to bring back Ginyu. To be honest, I found Ginyu in Tagoma's body personality more interesting than Tagoma's personality on his own during the episode.omaro34 wrote:It was simply fan service to bring back Ginyu. Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
It's unfortunate that Tagoma had such a humiliating ending so quickly. He had a lot of potential as a character in terms of development since he goes from respectful and decent to cruel and sadistic. He's much like Vegeta was when he served Freeza and was the reason why he was one of Freeza's favorites prior to his betrayal. I wouldn't mind Ginyu since it gives his character closure, but it should have been done differently. Really, if it was up to me I would have made RoF an hour longer where Tagoma wasn't kill off and showing Freeza and him training for 5 mins more showing how his personality warped under the extreme torture along with trying to find a way to implement Captain Ginyu.
Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
I think he along with Shisami had the privilege of receiving a major power boost; Super Perfect Cell-tier and MSSJ / Cell Jr-tier respectively are what I would deem as appropriate placements in terms of power.

Re: What do you think of Tagoma?
It's time to accept that Dragon Ball Super doesn't take this power level stuff so seriously. If you expect them to strictly follow some power tiers (mainly construed by fans), contrary to giving the story some tension by "illogical" power levels, you're only going to end up sorely dissapointed.
