Advance Adventure is easily the very, very best by a country mile. Not even remotely close.

Supersonic Warriors 1 and 2 both easily take the second place spot I'd say.

For third rung spot I'd go with either Attack of the Saiyans or possibly even Legendary Super Warriors. Those are both perfectly solid efforts.

Everything else ranges from passable and fine for what they are (the two Origins games for example) to horrendously unplayable (Taikestsu and GT Transformations, which are easily among the very worst things to ever have the DB name on a cartridge) or deathly boring (pretty much the entire Legacy of Goku series: those games are all fucking awful folks, sorry to be that guy), and with a large gradient of "meh" in between (e.g. the Shin Budokai games, which are the very definition of "just there" and "yep, this sure is a video game alright").

Advance Adventure and the Supersonic Warriors games are without a doubt though the standout handheld DB titles. Most of the rest are also-rans in the comparison.

Still need to play Ultimate Butouden though, so I'm not including that in the running here. Really, really am dying to though.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Shin Budokai and Supersonic Warriors.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Oh man. I still can't believe that this is a thing that actually exists. If only it were as entertainingly awful (both in terms of presentation as well as gameplay) as Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game.

The only way to top this in sheer ridiculousness is for someone to make a retro 8 bit indie throwback game based on The Magic Begins.

SuperSonic Warriors. (1, not the mediocre sequel)

Buu's Fury. I completed the main story of that game MANY times, I loved it.

I also liked Legacy of Goku 2 a lot, but found it too difficult when I was a kid, I then managed to finish it but the ending was underwhelming (SSJ2 Gohan still in Saiyan outfit and the SSJ2 hair looked bad, and the final battle wasn't good)

1) Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury - it's so complete. Some story characters in that game are exclusive, eg Olibu, Caterpy, Pintar and Saike Demon.
2) Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II - As good as its sequel, although it's not easier.
3) Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure - Best DB game, although I've never played Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo or both DB Origins.
