The dub voices are bad?

Funny, they sound better than most English dubs out there. Additionally, they don't sound like little girls...

Just my personal preference.

Nothing against Japan dubs (or the originals), because I prefer Bleach and Naruto in Japanese with subtitles. However, I just don't like the Dragonballz Japanese dub.

I totally agree to such a magnitude that it cannot be fully expressed in words.
Oh! Oh! Can I be in your group too? :D

Watching the clip actually made me miss the Ocean voices as well. >>
Yeah, I wanted so badly to hear Brian Drummond scream his face off during the Kamehameha duel scene. I also found it exhilerating how much different a feel the Kaio-ken x3 scene gives off with the original music. It was wierd at first, but now I kinda am back to having to get these sets just to hear all this in Japanese. The video may be false advertising bullcrap, but I need to hear this stuff the way it was meant to be heard, foreign language and all.

And VegettoEX's post brought a big grin to my face. Thank you.

Yes, the dub voices are just that bad. Once you give the Japanese version more than a 5 minute chance and open your mind about one character sounding like a female, then you can tell that the quality of acting isn't even comparable.

And, quite honestly, the dub actors peaked during the Boo arc and then they recorded for Budokai 3. Ever since then they have fallen so exponentially it makes me sick. Even Kyle Hebert, one of the VA's I really liked, sounds bad now.

But dude, MONO?

I want 5.1... I don't think I can compare Japanese mono to 5.1 surround lol.

Sound quality isn't a big deal to me. Besides, what's the point of 5.1 surround if -

A) I don't have surround sound
B) I'm not enjoying what I hear anyway

Just thought I'd point out, that:

A) You don't need 5.1 surround to enjoy 5.1 surround. For example, you can tell the difference on headphones.

B) Japanese music + dub is just what a lot of fans want.

Oh, I know. I guess I just wanted to put my opinion out there is all. Nothing wrong with either of us doing that.

But yeah, I don't have a problem with Mono, so it's all wins for me.

Sean Schemmel is the only good actor they have for DBZ IMHO. Most of them are just annoying.

Kirbopher, you think the US voice actors have it bad, imagine how the Japanese voice actors must feel. Masako Nozawa must be like, I could do this shit ten times over in my sleep!

Whole heartedly agree! I used to love Chris Sabat's Vegeta voice, but after hearing Drummond in that 9000 line, Sabat just annoys the hell outta me.

The English dub over the original Japanes BGM isn't all that great to me. I guess that's because I'm too used to the younger sounding voice overs from the early Pioneer version. It doesn't sound right with the older sounding voice overs. Damn, FUNi really fucked this series up. Poor Dragon Ball. You've taking so much abuse from America.

But madd props for posting all that shit Tanooki! Thank you.

Interesting how opinions vary on this.

I personally think the dub voices for DBZ are among the worst out there. I think everything else I've ever seen beats it (with the exception of one item).

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

I thought the Japanese music just might be enough to get me into the dub again. I knew there'd be better script writing and acting in the Japanese, but I thought the music might just redeem the dub.

After watching those clips, I'm totally unimpressed. I'll stick with Nozawa and Horikawa, thanks.

On the other hand, the widescreen doesn't look too bad. Despite the dub not impressing me, this set is now a definite buy for me.

That was pretty good, IMHO. The widescreen didn't bother me at all. I have to admit that the first few seconds seemed a bit boring with just the VAs. I hope it isn't like that for a lot of the scenes down the line.

Muten Roshi-sama, the uncropped beauty of Bulma taking a bath in one the later Namek eps has swayed you back to the light!

*Forgive this post, Conan is a bit tipsey*

Anywho, widescreen doesn't really look too bad. Agreed with Rick and Roshi.

I forgot to mention that I DO love how the episodes look in widescreen. That alone is enough reason for me buy these new sets.
