You're right.
I've edited my comment.
Spoiler:
Akira Toriyama wrote:My policy is to try and forget things once they’re over. Since if I don’t discard the old and focus on what’s new, I’ll overload my brain capacity. I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.
Akira Toriyama wrote:Drawing Dragon Ball again reminded me of two things--how much I love it, and how much I never want to do it again.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

Anyway, I finally got my copy of Volume 1 of the manga. I flipped through it, and it still irritates me that we skipped the Golden Freeza material.
Same here! hopefully Malik or someone gets time to redraw those ROF scans I posted in fan-created works a while back.(http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =6&t=33515) It continues from the original 3 ROF movie chapters. Also I love SSJB in the manga, gives it more of a distinction than shading and separates it from SSJ2.
Interesting to see that AF artist Young Jijii redrew panels from this month's chapter:
Example 1:
Spoiler:
Toyotaro Jijii
Example 2:
Spoiler:
Toyotaro Jijii
Really interesting to note the differences. I think I finally understand what Kei17 meant by Toyotaro's manga feeling like watching the anime rather than reading a continuation of Toriyama's manga. Personally I'm quite fond of both, but Jijii draws hair better than Toyotaro by an absolute landslide.
A 2ch user mentioned that Jaco's explanation in the manga for Tokitobashi meant that it was like Diablo instead of The World. I don't follow Jojo so I don't know what this means but since a lot of people were comparing the techniques, I thought it would be interesting to know. Either way, I haven't seen the text so I can't say this is accurate.

I like Jijii's aura for SSB a lot better than Toyotaro's.

Well the Frost fights weren't really considered jokes and neither were the fights with Cabba/Hit. I see it more as Goku and Vegeta each getting a battle intended for comedy.
I said joke and or short fights: Piccolo vs Frost (it sucked in the manga), Vegeta vs Frost and Vegeta vs Magetta, that's 3 in a row. Anime is better.
Piccolo vs Frost was better in the anime yeah, Frost vs Vegeta shouldn't have been a thing in either really and Vegeta vs Magetta is better because I'll take characters acting dumb for good comedy sake over the animes "LOOK HOW INTENSE THIS BATTLE IS! EVEN THOUGH VEGETA CAN TOTALLY END THIS IN AN INSTANT BUT HE WON'T CAUSE TENSION!".
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.
How the Black Arc Should End (by Lightbing!):
Spoiler:
Absolute Zamasu(my name for their fusion) wins. He fulfils his utopia and dwells in his loneliness(x amount of time for this to happen). He starts to doubt of his achievements, Goku's body influences him to seek out challenges but there's nothing. Perfection becomes a curse. Absolute Zamasu starts to dread his existence and presents himself to the Omni-King, detailing on his actions.
Using his powers the Omni-King restores everything to the moment before Goku and Vegeta perish, humanity's last barrier. Zamasu concedes. He ask for forgiveness(mainly to Goku, Gowasu and Trunks) and understands that his justice isn't justice at all. He asks for judgement and the Omni-King delivers.
Trunks is forced never to travel in time ever again, all the time-machines are destroyed.

It would've been fine if the anime just had him use SSB to actually sell us on genuine tension. But he doesn't because the form that gives them perfect ki control is also a pain on their stamina... or something.
Nah, I'll take a gag fight with good comedy over a "serious" fight that falls apart immediately.

Agree to disagree situation, i guess.
3 weak fights in a row isn't something i like.

Meh, I don't really see, why it was necessary at all to hide their power from him. One-shot all the scrubs in SSB and he couldn't possibly come to the conclusion, that it was a draining form anyways.
I don't like jiji's aura at all. It looks like a flame which is more fitting off ssg plus it's too translucent imo. I'm one of the people that also likes the bubble/water looking things so that's another reason that I prefer toyotoro. Jiji did an awesome job at making the new characters look like the old style . I like the new/Anime style more though. I like how Jiji buffed up vegeta, he looks much better that way. For the hair, I would actually call it even. Young Jiji has a better drawing but the way he shades it makes it look weird.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Exactly, 10 seconds in SSB couldn't been anymore exhausting then the heat exhaustion Vegeta was facing. It's not like they look particularly stressed out, strained, or exhausted in that form and sure beats nearly losing a battle and kicked out of the tournament anyway.
Yeah, the fight's in the manga are more grounded and don't try to give us tension that isn't there. It makes more sense to those who ask "why don't they just turn SSJB and end this".
We have two old-fashioned fighters, Cabba and Frost, who the characters just dominate. Then there's two special abilities fighters, Botamo and Magetta, who they want us to assume that even if they turned SSJB, it wouldn't make any difference. They are already stronger at Base/SSJ, it isn't about power it's about intelligence/strategy's.
Against Botamo Vegeta says that even if Goku powers up it might not matter. Against Magetta Piccolo wonders if he's invulnerable, implying that even if Vegeta went SSJB it might not be as simple as an one punch KO. Besides Vegeta quickly turning into a ring out strategy, when he saw his attacks had no effect.
It's a decent way to have an entertaining arc with twists and challenges, even knowing that our main characters are juggernauts.
The anime likes to dramatize sometimes to great results with Freeza exploding the Earth and we seeing everybody; other to ridiculous results like Bulma being slapped by Beerus.
People are STILL complaining about them not just going Blue to coast through the tournament? How do they improve from that? How is that a rewarding experience for them? Goku and Vegeta wanted the tournament to be a chance to get stronger, blasting through enemies that are a match for them in their lower forms by just using a higher transformation isn't going to help them improve one bit.
TheMikado wrote:Exactly, 10 seconds in SSB couldn't been anymore exhausting then the heat exhaustion Vegeta was facing.
If he went SSB that moment then he would feel even more exhausted.

What "fights" are you talking about, exactly? The only one more dramatic in the anime was Vegeta vs Magetta.
Oh, and it's worth remembering that even while in the anime Vegeta went SSJ and immediately one-shotted Frost, in the manga he lost a lot of unnecessary time and energy beating him up.
He removes the Yamamuro influence from the equation. That's the first thing I think of looking at the comparison art. It's sharper and the faces are tighter. It looks really cool.
My only wonder is how much time did it take Jiji and Toyotarou each to complete their pages.
I really, really dislike the redraws. Though, I also dislike his art style in general because it's based off Toriyama's Cell Arc style, which I wasn't that fond of (though it did look better than what Young Jiji is doing).
