Alright! First thoughts:

So Mai is showing up... I'm assuming she's from Trunks's future, considering she's still a kid in Super. That is...really surprising. Are they trying to put in some kind of romance angle? Obviously, Future Trunks never ended up with anyone, but I never expected them to actually act on that. With Toriyama's aversion to romance and all. If so, I guess that could be interesting. I don't know why it NEEDS to be Mai, as opposed to a new character, but...I guess they really want to pair them up in the main timeline, as well. (I still find that creepy, considering she's mentally in her 40s, but whatever.) But hey, at least we're getting a female character doing something! Even if she's human and might not be that important. But it's better than nothing! And she's wearing modest clothing, at the very least.

Why is Goku Black wearing Potara? That almost implies he fused with someone already. That could explain why he was evil. If say, a normal Goku was forcibly fused with something of pure evil. I dunno, these are just first-reaction speculations. But between this and the stuff with Kaioshin last arc...I would not be surprised if this arc ended in Vegetto. (Which I don't care too much for, but I know other people do, so...)

At the very least, it looks like the tone is getting a bit darker. I love light-hearted Dragon Ball, but I'm really interested to see how it'd handle being more serious. When they tried to do it in RF, the fact it was a movie meant they couldn't make consequences as far-reaching as they should've been.

So...it actually looks better than I thought!

Still, this is intriguing. Even if this Goku is evil only due to the Potara fusion, where's he from?
So many possibilities.

Maybe he's not even a Goku (Vegetto looked different after all, like all fusions), but the fusion of two people that ended up looking like Goku?

The Universe 6 Kaioshin. Though it could possibly be blue, but i'll check it out.

EDIT: Looks like its green. But its a bit different . There is no yellow thing from the Kaioshin's earring.

All the Uni 7 kaioshin in Super so far have yellow potara earrings. Kibito's got aqua ones. Those earrings could've come from somewhere else.

I think Toriyama Sensei did mention it involves many different timelines, and will get confusing. Perhaps it's Goku, who never bumped his head, so was successful in his mission to eliminate the human race.
Trunks goes back to stop him, but in doing so opens up some kind of breach in space and time, giving this evil Goku free reign to go anywhere he wishes.
