As far as I can tell this Black character is purely a fan creation. It's possible but I feel unlikely as all that talk of a black enemy is likely only referring to Black Goku. I could be wrong but until we see otherwise for me I expect that dark shadow to be Black Goku. I say this because there is no promotional art for anyone besides Black Goku. Also as I I have befor their are points were the shadow looks like it has Goku's hair to me, especially right at the end of the shot when its hidden behind flames. No Demigra, no Black just Black Goku is all I think it will be. It is possible that Black Goku has been possessed but I think that was in his passed.

Interestingly enough, Fuji's website lists "Light Crimson" (or whatever that awesome song was called) as the ending. Maybe that's a typo.

I'm unaware of any such speculation. I'm going by the preview for the next episode, where it looks like a wispy black character (could be a stylized flashback, but it still isn't necessarily implied to be Goku) and Trunks uses the name "Black".

Random thought: could it all be linked to Babidi/Majin Buu? Even though the future changed in Future Trunks' timeline no one knows what became of Babidi. What if, once the Androids & Cell were wiped out, it opened a can of worms and an alternate version of events from the Buu saga occurred?

All pie in the sky really, but I think that could be a pretty awesome twist.

I'm expecting the villian to simply be named "Black", and is simply a weak entity on his own. He is probably a makaioshin who then sticks onto trunk's time machine and travels with him to the past, where he then infects goku. That would be the best way of allowing an enemy from the other timeline to meet with everyone in the current timeline. It will then be left up to Vegeta, Beerus, Whis, and the others to defeat him. That's my theory.

My predictions have been off for this arc so far, but doesn't this mean that's not really Goku but someone that shapeshifted to look like him? Why would Goku use Saiyan as a pejorative term for someone who is even less of a Saiyan than him?

If Black possesses Goku and someone else has to defeat him it could be interesting. I always thought GT should have had Baby possess Goku instead of Vegeta for a number of reasons (Partially Baby's motivation - if there's one Saiyan he isn't going to allow to become part of his new Tuffle race, it's going to be the prince, not Goku). Seems like higher stakes and would give Vegeta or someone else time to shine while still kind of keeping Goku in the spotlight.

I do wonder if Black is also a consequence of Goku becoming a god though - some sort of cosmic balance. For every God of Creation there must be a God of Destruction, for every Kaio there must be a Makaio - so what do we get for the pure hearted Saiyan God?

There are many interesting things he could be really, and many interesting ways this story could go, especially taking places across different timelines and universes. I'm getting hyped for something more sophisticated than "strong guy appears and wants to destroy everything, people must get stronger than him and then kill him". If the ultimate resolution ends up being something more than "X-character can now kill the villain due to a new power-up" I'll be very pleased. A multiversal spirit bomb would also be predictable but could be extremely epic if done well. I feel that should be saved for the grand finale of the series though, unless Toriyama has something even more spectacular planned.

At no point did I mention race, nor did it even cross my mind. He said SSJ White would "clash" with the next villain. "Black" is literally the opposite of white. The corrolation simply jumped out to me. I'm not sure what made you read into that as to imply some kind of sociopolitical commentary, but I assure you they're not there.
