Frieza says this in the Viz manga, to the Namekians he rounds up in Dende's village, after he asks where "the others" are. But there's five Namekains present when he says this, and when the young men show up to fight there's three, which makes a total of eight.

So where did the remaining two Namekians go? Or did Viz mistranslate something?

Maybe he was rounding it off to be about ten, rather than actually being ten.

I think Freeza's including Dende and that other Namekian kid, unless you included that in the five you mentioned.

He was including Dende and Cargo. I just checked myself. My only guess is that there were two other young Namekians working in the fields like the elder said, only they were weaker than the other young ones (3,000) so they decided to stay behind. I've never really noticed this before.

Edit: Pages before that one of Freeza's men mentioned this when they first sensed the Namekian village: "I have a reading of ten or so Namekians in that direction." (Dragonball, Volume 21 page 133). I'm guessing the "or so" would justify there only being eight.
