I found another re-drawing in the DragonBall Kanzenban. This time from Vol 1, in the chapter art section in the back.
The re-drawing was from this famous image...
And here is a close up of the re-drawing... If I took a picture of the whole page you woulnt really be able to tell the difference. With a close up you can see the difference easily...

That's an odd choice for Mr. Toriyama to redraw. Maybe he just didn't like how the original came out?
You can definately tell the 20+ age difference going on between the two Gokus though. O_O Look at the hair! And the eye style.

This is sort of old news
People took note of this initially because Bulma is missing her cigarette in the Kanzenban version, and then noticed that the entire image had been redrawn.

Hm, I definitely like the original better... the change doesn't really seem necessary to me.

I think that the redrawn Goku looks a lot better. I was never fond of Goku's initial appearence. He looked too chubby.

It does look a lot more like what we're used to, but I like the evolution of his hairstyle rather than the what looks to be his later 'do, only miniaturized. (As for being chubby, who knows? Maybe he actually lost some weight!)

What bothers me about the re-draw is the coloring. Goku should be in his blue gi, not the orange one.

You know, the color of Gokû's clothes was a bit... changing, back then.
I may be wrong, but I seem to remember they had already magically turned orange in the first pages of the
second episode of the manga.

Indeed, but with a re-drawing at this point in time, they should know what color it should be. It's even blue (I assume) or looks like it's meant to be in the black & white, in the original drawing.
Bah, listen to me nitpicking...I don't really care all that much.

Come on, people! You guys should know this by now! The answer is clearly: "Toriyama forgot".

Touché, sir. Too much anime and not enough manga for me, I guess.

He (Goku) appears thinner in the colored one than in the black and white one which appeared in the manga. I can't believe that that would be the case. On the same note, do my eyes decieve me or does Goku have a bit of a tan or what? He looks a bit Mexican. Like his "padre" eh?
* I mean Bardock in this. Remember my old sig? My OLD OLD sig?

Toriyama also forgot to give the redesigned Goku his Grandpa's 4-star ball. Notice the lack of a pouch on his belt? And yeah, gone is Goku's chibi chubbiness.
