Has Gokuu finally gotten serious?
Re: Has Gokuu finally gotten serious?
He's most definitely serious right now. Hell, he even went straight to SSB. (Something that he didn't do when he even saw SSB Vegeta get beat by Hit.)
Whether he's angry or not, well that's a different thing.

So? What's your point? Because Bulma happens to care about the past that means everyone should 100% care about the future?Bansho64 wrote:Future Bulma didn't have a problem about caring about the past. And that's coming from Bulma. She didn't know any of them yet she still cared about them.Baggie_Saiyan wrote: But that is the Future. Aside from Trunks Goku has no ties there, he didn't know future Bulma, his Bulma is still here aive and well. It is hard to care for someone you didn't know.
Goku died at the Cell arc and I don't think he even bothered asking about Trunks or the future. Hell did he even show that much care at all for the future during "Z?

I'm just saying that it seems like Goku wasn't even serious when he heard she died. Even Vegeta felt bad. Like I said earlier, I find it hard to sympathise with Goku or even root for him.Baggie_Saiyan wrote: So? What's your point? Re: Has Gokuu finally gotten serious?
I agree with the sentiment that Goku has not been nearly serious enough in Super, but I think his reactions here are perfect.
The existence of Goku Black, if nothing else, is awkward for Son Goku. When he sees someone with his body talking and conducting himself in a completely different way, it (as he constantly says) gives him the creeps. He's not furious that his body has been stolen because he doesn't know how that came about. He's not torn up about Vegeta being (possibly) mortally wounded because there are plenty of ways to restore him. The stakes are high for Trunks, but much less so for Goku based on everything and everyone he's encountered since obtaining godly ki. All he knows is that encountering Black is a surreal experience that disturbs him, and in the newest episode, makes him feel like he could push his body even further.
Goku's stoic anger is definitely a token part of his personality, but that typically isn't his reaction when going up against someone he isn't confident that he can put down. Look at the way he reacted when fighting Raditz or Beerus.

As long as there are three sets of Dragon Balls, I doubt any of the cast will treat any new threat with real any seriousness. I mean, Goku has been there, see it happen and done it all and now that the cast of three sets of wish granting MacGuffins to bail them out of any problem, I think the best we can hope for is Goku reacting to a serious threat with tranquil fury.

Seriously tho if I hear Goku giggle again even for a second in the NEP I am flippin tables.dbs fanboy wrote:Maybe if in Toriyama's script Goku was serious while fighting, Toshio will have to change for once and not make Goku look like an idiot, i mean, in the preview he looks serious, if i didn't know that this was going to be a Toshio's episode, i would have thought that it would be King Ryu's.SansrivaaL wrote:Goku got pretty serious after Vegeta got stabbed and went down with little to no effort from Black, even his voice got serious when he told Trunks to "stand back" having low expectations from Goku in the NEP tho, since its the guy that enjoys making Goku a retard is the one handling it.
Come on Toshio, Goku is in danger, Trunks is in danger, Vegeta is in a terrible state and both Black and Zamasu are strong, DON'T YOU DARE TO FUCK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!

To an extent this is true but remember if everyone is dead nothing can really be done.Lord Beerus wrote:As long as there are three sets of Dragon Balls, I doubt any of the cast will treat any new threat with real any seriousness. Right - he didn't react too strongly in the Cell arc when he found out the artificial humans had killed all of his friends future-selves either.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:But that is the Future. Also, let's not forget when Goku arrived in Saiyan arc to confront Vegeta and Nappa. The guy literally gave Nappa a blow for each and every one of his dead comrades. Seeing him seemingly not care at all about Future Bulma dying and the future being screwed cuts off any sympathy I had for him. If he doesn't care, why should we?fadeddreams5 wrote:Not at all. Look back at Goku vs Frieza, or Goku confronting the androids, or the moment Cell snapped Piccolo's neck, or SSJ4 Goku vs Bebi, or that instance Cell eradicated that army, or any of the movies. That serious Goku has been sealed away forever.

I was so damn wrong. Toshio nailed Gokuu in ep 57. It is the best written Toshio ep in Super so far imo.

Who said his character even changed from DB to DBZ?Lujin_16 wrote:Why can people not accept that Goku from Super is a mix of Dragonball & Dragonball Z ??
Re: Has Gokuu finally gotten serious?
Goku as a kid in Dragonball could be downright TERRIFYING in a fight. He was a brutal child.
In Super..Goku is a child. Nothing brutal about him or his fights. I miss that. Heck I even miss his serious portrayal in Freeza saga when he attained SS. He was frightening.
I still miss those fight scenes. We never got that in Super. There's no sense of danger really. No brutality. No real tension.
Not to mention. When was the last time Goku actually straight up beat an opponent ? Can the guy that leads your franchise get a win ?

Re: Has Gokuu finally gotten serious?
Thank god, they got Goku's characterization in Episode 57 right. Glad he isn't that childish monkey that he was prior to this and last week's episode. This demonstrates Goku being serious when the stakes are raised with Zamasu and Black. I got Namek SSJ Goku vibes when hearing Goku talking to Zamasu. He sounded pissed and serious!!!
