The episode had some rough pieces of art, mainly in still scenes, that's about it. The episode could have used a bit more polish, but it does not look like it is struggling to hold itself together.JulieYBM wrote:The episode is rickety and struggling to hold itself together. Awkward poses during and between spurts of animation show off the strained effort from the production staff to try to make an episode better than previous episodes to this point. Nevertheless, Shida Naotoshi's scene is the only one that manages to maintain a consistently high level, however briefly.
This has nothing to do with being a Shida fan or not, it has to do with the others not being able to turn in anything stand-out. God knows Higashide can and has done much, much better.
And Shida's cut is not the only cut that was able to maintain a high quality, most of the action was good, Shida's was just really good.
The episode probably would have turned out more polished looking had they put more people on it, only 7 animators makes no sense, especially when the previous episode had 19.
And seriously, it's pretty obvious that Higashide's role is not to provide stand out animation with every episode he works on, but to just help the production in general by doing a lot of animation. The constant complaints that Higashide isn't putting out great animation very often is tiring when it's clear that isn't the reason he's even on the show.
The episode wasn't perfect, but you are being overly negative.
