Edit: One last shot though, even if you consider him sitting all this time equals to nothing (which I disagree with) he still had to master the Z sword so he actually did some physical training prior to the ceremony lol

To be honest all I have to say about it is just be patient and see what happens. He's no way in hell doing something this arc but there's still the possibility.

People wanted more Saiyans? We got Cabba. People wanted Beerus to do something worthwhile? He destroyed Zamasu and will potentially do something else next episode. People wanted Future Trunks back? He literally has his own arc right now.

Super is on their second actual arc (without counting the retellings of course, where Gohan had at least some sort of revelancy in both). I say give it some time.

I think he was just pissed about what happen to Trunks. If in the future he will start to train again and become a regularly fighter, that's cool. If he doesn't that's okay too. It was just a scene stop overreacting everything. It was the same with Goku and kissing Chi-chi geez...

I understand the odds of Gohan making any strides in the grander picture are virtually nil. It doesn't mean fans of his can't lament the callous disposal of his character and the momentum that was gradually building over the course of DBZ for a potential succession. Some of us are discontent with the monotony of events centring around Goku and Vegeta. Future Trunks' role this arc is just a temporary disturbance in the narrative flow. Others believe it's misusage of his abilities to not use them, but whatever. Akkuman not being allowed to use his Devilmite Beam against Black is technically a neglecting of a potential finisher, I suppose.
