What confuses me the most is that TOEI wouldn't let Mexico dub Super until they finished all of Kai, but for some reason Bang Zoom gets a free pass, unless Bang Zoom have a Kai dub that we're unaware of but I don't see how that's likely.
Actually here in italy Dragon Ball Super air in this winter, but Dragon Ball Kai it's never came out.

Re: Current state of the Toonami Asia English dub?
I think that's exactly it - Toei are insisting any territory that licensed and dubbed Kai 1.0 are obligated to finish the Buu Arc before they get the rights to Super.Goku98 wrote:Actually here in italy Dragon Ball Super air in this winter, but Dragon Ball Kai it's never came out.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote:What confuses me the most is that TOEI wouldn't let Mexico dub Super until they finished all of Kai, but for some reason Bang Zoom gets a free pass, unless Bang Zoom have a Kai dub that we're unaware of but I don't see how that's likely.
Those that didn't, are exempt from it.

I'm probably the only person in the world that wasn't a fan of the Black Lagoon dub. It's good in some parts but not as a whole. But the Death Note English dub is superlative, I'll agree on that.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote:Ocean produced good dubs with Black Lagoon, Death Note and others. Although as far as I'm aware Blue Water and Animax aren't well regarded. Personally I'm in the camp that feels Ocean and Blue Water were left out due to the absence of their Kai dub.Lord Beerus wrote:Maybe because Bang Zoom actually produce good English dubbing?Hellspawn28 wrote:I wonder why Toonami Asia hire Bang Zoom, not another company like Blue Water Studios, Ocean or Animax?

With Ocean Group, we could have got Brian Drummond yell out "YOU HIT MY BULMA!" in his Vegeta voice. Too bad we would never get that.

Re: Current state of the Toonami Asia English dub?
Guys, Funi's DUB and Funi's LICENSE are two separate stuff.
If they have the license for Super, it means no other company can license Dragon Ball in the US and whatever territories they also have the rights to in.
That doesn't mean other dub can't happen in the US. It just can't be used there with commercial purposes.
Bang Zoom was mostly likely paid to just produce a english track for Toei or whatever company, they probably don't have the rights to it.
My guess is that Toei chose to produce a new track, rather than negotiating with Funi so they could use theirs overseas.

One major thing everyone needs to realize is that the chances of someone actually recording this and sharing it online is VERY slim, even slimmer if you don't want it recorded with a potato.90sDBZ wrote:So I'm predicting we'll now see a new era of Youtube dub comparisons and potentially arguments too. Funimation vs Bang Zoom will become the new Funimation vs Ocean.
Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers is a great example of this.
https://youtu.be/hDnAvPpUzck
This dub has been confirmed to have been dubbed in North America with well known talent (http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/tv- ... -avengers/), but so far, it's only been aired on Disney XD SEA. It's next to impossible to find good quality clips of this dub, and it's been in the wild for over the year.
Another example of this is Beywarriors Cyborg, which has only aired on Toonami Asia.
https://youtu.be/5Q4Kx5VWObY
Same situation, next to no good quality clips to be found.
Granted, I've seen the DBZ community pull off miracles before when it comes to hard to find dubs. Hopefully someone has a source over there that can archive this dub, because I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't get re-run on the channel after it completes its initial run.

So, what cast members have been confirmed thus far?
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: Current state of the Toonami Asia English dub?
Just for clarification, this is not like the Malaysian dub, correct? By that, I mean that this is not produced in Malaysia with a Malaysian cast? Do we know what country of origin is it being dubbed in?
DRAGON BALL IS THE KING OF (Fighting) ANIME!!!!!!! In my opinion, at least...
My reaction to anything about Dragon Ball post-2013 that I don't like and/or is stupid.

Nope, this is being produced by Bang-Zoom Entertainment, one of the two mainstay anime dubbing studios of Los Angeles (the other being Studiopolis).Esfír Dedragón wrote:Just for clarification, this is not like the Malaysian dub, correct? So, the first English dub of Dragon Ball Super ends up being produced in Los Angeles, by Bang Zoom, for Asia.

Yeah thats what thier announcement said rights for all the home video platforms and merchandise and broadcast opportunities , also their license streches to Cananda too so probably means the BZ dub will only be shown exclusively for international. Now the UK is another question....kevoso96 wrote:Guys, Funi's DUB and Funi's LICENSE are two separate stuff.
