Very interesting. Please let us know when he gets access to January so that we may get some kind of early idea as to when The Final Chapters will beginPrinceVegetto wrote: A friend of mine has access to TurnerResources which shows the schedules of Turner channels (like CN/TBS/Boomerang etc.) for the entire month.

I don't think anyone here was really doubting thatPrinceVegetto wrote:Just found out the marathon on 12/31 will be airing the last few episodes of the Cell arc
The 17th is the last of Kai1.0 and Marathons usually only recap the last few episodes with Toonami, with HunterxHunter being the only exception I think that didn't involve Cartoon Network writing off a show mid-run or a liscense expiring

If Toonami gets kai and a kids network picks up Super it could be a fantastic year for dragon ball in the US
I only wish it happened sooner, so it could have rode the waves the movies' theatrical releases started
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
This same situation has apparently happened with Brazil I've heard. They're doing Kai 1.0 as a precursor to 2.0 their entire situation is way too coincidental to the US. It seems more and more likely we're getting it after episode 98 if we put all these pieces together, especially if you look at the fact that Toei has been stubborn with telling companies that they need to release Buu Kai before they're allowed to release Super.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
For territories that dubbed Kai 1.0, they have requested Buu Kai is dubbed and ready to air, not that they have to release it first.Tobi555 wrote:This same situation has apparently happened with Brazil I've heard. Ok okay thanks for clearing that up I couldn't remember if it was that it had to be released first or dubbed firstDBZ_Lee wrote:For territories that dubbed Kai 1.0, they have requested Buu Kai is dubbed and ready to air, not that they have to release it first.Tobi555 wrote:This same situation has apparently happened with Brazil I've heard. At the very least, that does mean that it's ready to be released, should Toonami not get itDBZ_Lee wrote:For territories that dubbed Kai 1.0, they have requested Buu Kai is dubbed and ready to air, not that they have to release it first.Tobi555 wrote:This same situation has apparently happened with Brazil I've heard. Funimation wouldn't just sit on that forever
Someone brought up the Dragon Box Movies, but while it is odd that they licensed them to not release them, those also didn't have the full cost of being redubbed tacked onto it

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Which is why FUNi should've had no problem releasing those since they already had a dub audio track that was lying around ready to go and everything, honestly I see not releasing Dragon Box the movies as a wasted opportunity and a complete waste of money on FUNi's part (especially when you consider the fact the DBOX masters were not a cheap acquisition to begin with, so why FUNi didn't release them is beyond me, some say that the Z DBOX's didn't sell enough but I personally doubt that, and since we don't have any official sales numbers to work with, any theories are hearsay at best), and the only reason I only brought that up in the first place was to illustrate the fact that nothing is ever completely set in stone when it comes to releasing something you acquire even after paying for it.AzuraRacon wrote:Someone brought up the Dragon Box Movies, but while it is odd that they licensed them to not release them, those also didn't have the full cost of being redubbed tacked onto it
On topic: I personally believe that if Kai 2.0 doesn't air on Toonami after Kai 1.0 finishes its run or home releases for it aren't announced soon, the ship will have completely sailed and another opportunity will have been wasted as too much time will have passed.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I think It's because they already released the movies in BD. So it's kind of hard to market a downgrade in physical media even though it is technically better.superrayman3 wrote:Which is why FUNi should've had no problem releasing those since they already had a dub audio track that was lying around ready to go and everything, honestly I see not releasing Dragon Box the movies as a wasted opportunity and a complete waste of money on FUNi's part (especially when you consider the fact the DBOX masters were not a cheap acquisition to begin with, so why FUNi didn't release them is beyond me, some say that the Z DBOX's didn't sell enough but I personally doubt that, and since we don't have any official sales numbers to work with, any theories are hearsay at best), and the only reason I only brought that up in the first place was to illustrate the fact that nothing is ever completely set in stone when it comes to releasing something you acquire even after paying for it.AzuraRacon wrote:Someone brought up the Dragon Box Movies, but while it is odd that they licensed them to not release them, those also didn't have the full cost of being redubbed tacked onto it

It's a dragon Ball property, so it's automatically worth something to Funimation even if it's just a retread of existing material
If it doesn't come out in January, it'll still be in Funi's back pocket to release whenever, and they will eventually
January's just the last Guessable release window for now
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
So I'm just going to brainstorm a little here.
FUNi announces the Kai 1.0 license acquisition in February 2010. FUNi announces in March 2010 (1 month after acquisition announcement) that Kai 1.0 will air on Nicktoons in May 2010 (3 months after acquisition announcement).
So if FUNi follows the same pattern with Super, the license acquisition announcement was in November 2016, so the television channel announcement should be in December 2016 (so this month...& 1 month after acquisition announcement), and the show should begin airing in February (3 months after acquisition announcement).
So why is Super relevant here? Well some have theorized that Super supposedly starting in January coincides with Kai ending on Toonami, which points to The Final Chapters being cancelled since Super would be Kai's replacement in this scenario. Well my point is that Funimation still hasn't actually announced when the Super dub will premiere (so we don't know if it's January). And looking at the previous Dragon Ball show for which they had an announcement, it began airing on television 3 months after said announcement, which points to more of a February time frame for the Super dub premiere. Additionally, if Toei has any stipulation about Buu Kai beginning to air before Super, then a February premiere for Super would make sense given that Buu Kai should start in January.
And speaking of Buu Kai, when does the Toonami blog/Facebook usually make announcements? The Unicorn announcement last week was on Tuesday, right? So does anyone think we might hear something from them tomorrow about what comes after Kai 1.0? And if this really is happening (and I do believe that it will happen), it won't be long now before we hear something official since Toonami is going to have to talk about what comes after Kai, and they're going to have to do it pretty soon.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
But if the plan was to scrap the TV airing of Final Chapters, why haven't they released the Blurays? There's nothing else Dragon Ball related coming out at the moment, so it's not like oversaturation is a problem. It has the words Dragon Ball in the title, so they'd make good money off of it. What gives?

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
My only guesses are A) a TV deal is still on the table with Toonami and B) the fact that super is the big thing right now made them want to avoid backlash by releasing more of kai. Justified, as anythin they announced at all since super began airing received hundreds of "where's super" commentsfunrush wrote:But if the plan was to scrap the TV airing of Final Chapters, why haven't they released the Blurays? Once Super starts releasing they might not be so tight lipped about it and maybe even release it between Super sets
B assuming Toonami isn't on the table
If the situation is A the plan could just be to air it relatively quietly on Toonami, letting them handle an announcement when/if they choose to
There is no consistent window for thatthaman91 wrote: And speakingof Buu Kai, when does the Toonami blog/Faebook usually make announcements? The Unicorn announcement last week was on Tuesday, right? Their announcements can range anywhere from 3 months to the week beforehand

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I think people are more expecting to see it pop up on tv schedule guides before we actually hear anything about it
Kinda mad they pushed the window back to January with those two marathons but we'll know by the time that Jojo marathon happens someway or another
At the very least, it lines up with Geekdom's January 2017 date now, and as I understand the marathons even close up the gap between IBO ending and the new series starting that someone brought up when they announced it, so I definitely like these pieces falling into place

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
The 7th January is looking likely, we know there won't be a third marathon, as the new Gundam Season starts on that day.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if Funimation announce where Super will be airing this week or next.

They've released some of the dub cast and clips for it so yeah an announcement where Super will air or be released I guess is imminent now.DBZ_Lee wrote:The 7th January is looking likely, we know there won't be a third marathon, as the new Gundam Season starts on that day.

Kai I'm convinced will be released silently.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
No Buu Kai. Super is taking Kai's timeslot on 7th January. I'm very surprised.
We've waited for years... I'm so disappointed.

Well, RIP Kai The Final Chapters airing on Toonami anytime soon
Looks like Super is confirmed to be airing on January 7th.
Let's just hope for a home release sometime soon now
