What happened to Zamasu?
Did Beerus simply kill him? Or did Beerus actually erase Zamasu's soul from existence (like Zeno did with Merged Zamasu)? If it's the former, Present Zamasu should be in Hell, right?
Re: What happened to Zamasu?
Sorry but, Beerus Haikai'd him, meaning he got erased from existence. Don't worry it should be possible to bring him back with the super dragon balls. If anybody bothers to

Beerus picked him apart at the cellular level. His spirit is probably being purified and re-incarnated. Remember, Hell in DB isn't the same as we think of, it's a place of cleansing and rehabilitation.

Not to me. The best thing that could happen would be exploring the Makai world (which is something that should've already been done by now, including how Makaios and Makaioshins origin, how they rule and etc), and explaining that when "evil" Kaios and Kaioshins die, they are sent there.Merged Zamasu wrote:If it's the former, Present Zamasu should be in Hell, right?

Re: What happened to Zamasu?
He was erased from existence by the God of Destruction, split in half by Trunks, and then wiped out by the multiversal king.
A very Rasputinian death indeed.

Re: What happened to Zamasu?
He's still alive on Future Barbari, though. Maybe we'll see a video game take advantage of that. I could see Towa snatching Zamasu in a similar way they did Bardock, even.

Re: What happened to Zamasu?
Doubt we will see a what-if with Zamasu. At best, what they can do is put him in a what-if scenario, but without a new form and such.
Goku Black can get what-if forms, though. But of course, it'll take a long time for that.

One thousand years from now on Planet Babiri, Zamasu, who's been dead for millennia, is going to pop in for a minute, kill a native, and leave.
Re: What happened to Zamasu?
I like to imagine that time travelling into the future with the rings within the same timeline just creates a sort of "what-if" scenario. What would have happened if destiny proceeded without interruption. Of course that Gowasu being so mad at Zamasu for killing the native contradicts this headcanon, but it's my way of making sense of the event.Cipher wrote:Oh, fuck. Wait, what? When did this happen? When was this stated? Could you please tell me?Jinzoningen MULE wrote:He's still alive on Future Barbari, though. Maybe we'll see a video game take advantage of that. I could see Towa snatching Zamasu in a similar way they did Bardock, even.

Re: What happened to Zamasu?
Remember, he went to Barbari with Gowasu to observe the planet's future. While it is 1000 years in the future, from Zamasu's perspective, it happened before Beerus killed him, meaning that he will exist again in about 1000 years. However, he will simply observe, kill a Barbarian, then return with Gowasu, so it doesn't actually mean anything. I was just throwing it out there as a fun possibility for a side-story.Gog wrote:Wait, what? When did this happen? When was this stated? Yeah, the mechanics of the future travel with the time rings are rather unclear.Doctor. wrote:I like to imagine that time travelling into the future with the rings within the same timeline just creates a sort of "what-if" scenario. Maybe it is just a "what-if" window. Maybe it isn't, and after witnessing the future, doing anything else within a thousand-year window to intentionally influence Barbari would create parallel timelines; hence the rings being used sparingly.
There is the whole thing with Zamasu of Black's timeline using the ring to collect the Super Dragon Balls ahead of their normal recharge time too.
I'm guessing not even Toriyama knows.
Re: What happened to Zamasu?
I imagine he replaces his own future self by doing so. At least it's what would make sense.Cipher wrote:There is the whole thing with Zamasu of Black's timeline using the ring to collect the Super Dragon Balls ahead of their normal recharge time too.

Re: What happened to Zamasu?
Towa, and any other mage, shouldn't really bother with him because their possession magic (presumably their tech created via magic, too) won't work on gods via currently established lore. So unless they develop a new spell or technology, which isn't impossible, their only option for now is a good old fashioned alliance...even though Zamasu wants to kill everyone but himself and nature.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:He's still alive on Future Barbari, though. Re: What happened to Zamasu?
Yeah, I wasn't saying that would lead to an extra Zamasu or anything; just bringing it up for the "what-if scenario" or "not what-if scenario" discussion, since he's able to use the Dragon Balls that way, then apparently immediately kill Goku and family, the events of which remain codified in a timeline Trunks and Beerus' actions create a splinter from. Though perhaps that's only the case because Black is already part of Trunks' history, the the events of his background must remain.Doctor. wrote:I imagine he replaces his own future self by doing so. Zamasu one year into his own personal future has already become Black and flown the coop over to Trunks' timeline, so there wouldn't be two of them at the point he makes his wish.
... If that makes sense.

Re: What happened to Zamasu?
Well, no, not exactly. Zamasu one year into his own future hasn't become Black yet because he only becomes Black that one year later. The one year period between the activation of the Super DBs is a period where nothing happens.Cipher wrote:Yeah, I wasn't saying that would lead to an extra Zamasu or anything; just bringing it up for the "what-if scenario" or "not what-if scenario" discussion.Doctor. wrote:I imagine he replaces his own future self by doing so. Hey, that is a really fun little what if. Good lord I can't wait to see what they'd do with that.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:Remember, he went to Barbari with Gowasu to observe the planet's future. Re: What happened to Zamasu?
I think I need to reason this one out:Doctor. wrote:Well, no, not exactly. Zamasu one year into his own future hasn't become Black yet because he only becomes Black that one year later. The one year period between the activation of the Super DBs is a period where nothing happens.
Events from Zamasu's perspective:
He kills Gowasu, steals the Potara and time ring, jumps forward one year, gathers the Dragon Balls, obtains Goku's body, then kills him on Earth before leaving for a parallel timeline.
Events from an omniscient historical perspective:
Zamasu kills Gowasu, steals the Potata and time ring, and then disappears for a year. A year later, he reappears to gather the Dragon Balls, makes his wish, etc., and then disappears again.
So, yeah. No overlap with two Zamasus, since as far as we know he doesn't return to his native era after using the Dragon Balls.
Wasn't arguing with you. Just had to get a handle on how that all worked out. I guess saying he "replaces" his future self in this case is more or less correct; but it's due to the circumstances rather than a mechanic of the time ring. If he'd gone back to the past after his wish and chilled for another year, there'd be a brief overlap with one Zamasu hanging around in the Kaioshin realm, and another gathering the SDBs.
