Yes indeed, Acid_Reign, also an owner of the Movies DragonBox, has already ripped the footage and placed it in the FTP server that he also has so graciously set up. For the moment, though, only he and I can access it. I'm trying to figure out who our video editors are, so I can give them the FTP logon info, and we can discuss and figure out the best way to divide up and do the editing work.
You know who they are right? Well, I'm one =P
Anyways, the video's 50 minutes right? Just divide it by the amount of video editors doing it. If there's 3, then 20 minute parts (The last one'll be 10 minutes though)
Wha'ts the file format though? And will audio be included? (If not, this will help considerably with file size)

There's three total, raw .vob files. The .ac3's for audio are there too, in case we need them for anything, but I don't see how we could.

Sorry for the inactivity here. I got a PM about the project but I just want to know a few of the deadlines and if the final script is ready. Thanks.

Hi there! I know I'm very late on this reply; but if you guys need any video help, I'd love to lend a hand if need be.

But if you already have this position taken, then don't mind me. Cheers! And good luck on this project!

We sure could use some help. At the moment, Eclipse is all we have (that I can remember...) on video editing, with me to help out where and when I can.

Kaboom, I'm still confused about the way the footage is being handled. I'm the music guy (help with that will be appreciated), and so I'll need to make minor alterations to the footage, in order for the music to fit it. If I then send this footage (with music) to the editors, they can't alter it- because the syncing will get messed up. :? However, I don't see how alteration of the footage by the editors is needed at that point; the only thing I can think of is changing the mouth-flaps of the characters so they can say certain things- but from what I've heard, we're selecting lines so they fit the original mouth-flaps. So, the questions are:
  • -How will the footage be processed (a flow chart will look good :P )?
-What exactly will 'video editors' need to do in terms of editing?
Also, I have NO IDEA on what's going on with the FTP thing. Hell, I don't even know how to operate that piece of junk. :? Updates on that, for all members to see, will help.

Video editors would need essentially everything. This includes all soundtrack data, voice work, sound-effects (SFX), and video footage. So from what I'm hearing, all the soundtracks will be mixed seperately and then sent to the video editor? If so, then those two people would have to work real close together for correct syncing.

I'm curious, how far are you guys on this project? Has any episodes been finished yet? Oh, and if you are in need of a FTP server, I can let you use ours. It has a storage of like 5TB.

Yes, we would like to use your FTP! We'll need to get a reply from Kaboom first. Also, we're doing movie 3, not episodes. By the way, I'm 'Saiyan Impostor' on YouTube (you said you liked my video- which is great, coming from you! ).

Ugh. Sorry I'm so unavailable again. Let's see what we've got here...

First of all, we already have an FTP Server. Anybody who needs to get to the footage, get in touch with me.

Acid_Reign has done us the wonderful service of setting it up, as well as putting the DragonBox footage on it. As of right now, only he and I are capable of accessing it, as he was getting folks he didn't know trying to log on. If you're a video editor, and would like to get your hands on the footage, then use this website to get your IP address so he can set it to allow you on.

To Arcwave

So glad to see you're interested. Lemme give you the heads up on what's going on.

During a period of much bitching and moaning over some evil thing FUNimation did late last year, I, half-joking, half-serious, suggested that we make our own dub. The idea took off, and we got a little "group" here together, which we decided to call "Room 29 Productions" (named after one of the board's more (in)famous running jokes normally seen in the Introduction board).

We decided to just shoot for dubbing one of the movies, and we eventually picked DBZ Movie 3 ("Tree of Might"). Since then, we've managed to get a complete cast put together, get a script 99% finished (Waiting for the finished product from KinoFourpaws at the moment), and make a trailer and a couple "promotional posters."

You've come at a good time; about now is when we actually start the hard work. We've got footage, we've got VAs... as soon as the final script is done, we're gonna start recording and putting the thing together.

In terms of the video editing, we've been trying from the beginning to actually do as little as possible to the actual footage. As Steven said, we've been taking great care to make the lines in the script match the already-present lip flaps (one of the reasons it's taking so long). We're trying to get the music, sfx and voices all together separately, and the video editors' jobs will essentially be to put it all together. I'm not sure how efficient a procedure this is, or if it's done this way professionally or not, but it's the best I/we could come up with.

Well it seems you guys have quite the crew. I'm very impressed. Also, I'm curious about the footage you have for The Tree of Might, is it a direct rip from the DVD (First Strike or Pioneer?) or is it a CN TV rip with the CN logo in the corner? I have a real nice ripping program that renders 100% DVD quality if you need it (I have all three movies).

I'm just trying to throw out anything I could do to help you guys; be it audio mixing (I have nearly the entire collection of Japanese BGM) or video editing, I'd love to assist in anyway possible.

Cheers!

None of the above.

It's DragonBox, baby.

I hope to be able to put up the Spanish version of Tree of Might known as Árbol de la Fuerza or also Árbol de Poder which depends on the translation of the title. More interesting is if the script will be put down in it's entierity or not. I have some snaches from the trailer translated like:

"Tú quieres decir que la Tierra es..." (Goku's line: You mean the earth is...)

"Una versión doblado como niguna otra..con video del Dragonbox..." (A version dubbed like no other...with Dragonbox footage)

"Traduzca al inglés con gran precisión" (Translated to English with great accuracy)

Oh and by the way if this is included as Spanish subtitles then it'll say:
Subtitlos por Bardock the Mexican. That's subtitles by me. Maybe I'm feeling a bit arrogant about now, but I feel that what I have done so far is good and I hope to translate new material. When that script comes I'll be on it ASAP. I really want to make Spanish subs for this dub. I hope they are included as this would be my little contribution.

You're hired. Welcome to the crew!

I assume you mean the full Vegas thingie? I only have Vegas Movie Studio. Good enough for anything I'm gonna be doing, though.

Also, BtM... I haven't forgotten (I'm surprised I haven't, at that.) Once Kino finishes the script, and I give it a look-over, I'll get a copy sent to you pronto.

I'm honored to be apart of this endeavor. Thank you! And yes, I have the full (and legal) version of Vegas 6.0.

Also, I am going to be in New York City until Friday starting tomorrow morning, so I may or may not be online. But I'm thinking of bringing my laptop though.

EDIT: I will be on my laptop throughout my trip, so I'll be checking up every day on the forum. :D

Again, thanks! :P

Adobe Premiere, you say? Okay, I need you to help me with the music. A good idea will be to do some drafts (like I've done) with some footage.

We'll have to split this movie into small 5 minute chapters, and not move on until a chapter is finished.

I guess we'll have to get in contact often (yes, I get to work with the cool guy! :P ).

It seems we have quite a lot of professionals here.

Hey there.

Just posting to say a few things, one of which is that the FTP information and people's IPs shouldn't be "out in the open" like this; it's too easy to find and FTP really isn't that secure to begin with. Not to mention the fact that IP's can be spoofed, and although any potential "hacker" would only find access to part of a DBZ DVD, I really can't run the risk of intrusion onto my computer.

So Kaboom, if you could edit out that info, and give it out to only those who need it, that would be great. (I may change it, just as a precaution, so expect to hear from me). Also, for the editors, etc: from now on, please PM me with your IPs to get authenticated. It may seem a little unnecessary, but after studying Information Security one begins to realize its importance in any set-up. Thanks for the cooperation.

Second thing is that I am available, if at all needed, for video editing as well. I have a slew of Adobe products, including Premiere. If you're all set in that department though, that's fine, but either way I'd also like to volunteer to compile the DVD when the editing is done (that is, if we're still doing that).

I like the progress being made and I wish everyone the best of luck.
