It depends on how much the lack of Vegeta impacted Goku's motivation and method of training while in his ship, since he doesn't seem to have trained after meeting Nail. Going by the original manga, Goku should be more confident and overwhelming in comparison to Recome and Burter.

Didn't he still got warning that Freeza is much stronger than Vegeta? I think that alone should be enough motivation to train as hard as in our universe

We weren't shown how that went down, but yes, it should give him the same kind of motivation.

Honestly, I feel that Goku should easily handle the Ginyu Force since Ginyu would be the only one capable of fighting Goku. Even if he struggles against them, he has perfect control over the kaioken so it doesn't make sense to me. Unless Freeza shows up soon, I don't see how they can survive... I'm afrad this might be another asspull like the future Gohan special where he beats Dabra, somehow.

Yup, Goku is somehow weaker, guess he either: a) Stopped training after he got that bad feeling/Kaio told him Gohan and others are dead, and everythign is lost. B) He didn't get message "There is someone stronger than Vegeta" on Namek

But this is his webcomic. He should be going over the scripts of these comics before they are drawn and make sure that things are consistent.

Given that the Ginyus have power levels of ~40,000 it would seem Goku has barely half his canon power level of 90,000 since Captain Ginyu said you only need a power level of 60,000 to completely stomp the Ginyu force.

I don't mind Goku being weaker here than he was in U18... though I do expect the comic to explain why that is the case.

Goku didn't train the same amount because:

1. He didn't have a fellow Saiyan to inspire his battle-lust.

2. While he was angry at feeling the deaths of everyone, he didn't see it first hand like when Freeza did it. So his training was likely in a more subdued and depressed state after several days of accepting it.
