Ah... the UK dub...

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Err... are you talking about the dub discussed here? There's more than one English-language dub.
Woops. I mean i hate the UK dubb.
Just another Dragon Ball fangirl in the world.

Right, I’ve finally started on the GT special.

Little titbit:
In every movie they say “super warrior” instead of Saiya-jin or Saiyans, in fact the only reference to these names are in the titles where they write Saiya (no jin.)
For example "The batttle of three Saiyas" used for movie 7

Well in this, Pan, just before her heart attack says "you are a descendant of the super warriors, the saiyans" (Japanese pronunciation too)

I have a feeling that if these dubs continued there would be no more Big Green® or CRYSTAL BALLS™
If they just hired better voice actors and then this would actually be worthwhile.

Anyway GT special then the Trunks one then the 2nd Cooler movie.
let me just say that the Cooler movie is EVERYTHING AND MORE that we love about this dub, I’m also certain that Vegeta, whoops I mean VEH-JIT-TAH says "kamehameha."

On a related note, a friend of mine posted a nice clip compilation of the Swedish dub of movie 3, which pretty much shares the exact same dialogue as the infamous "Big Green" production:

Not surprising, as it sounds just as awkward as the "Big Green" mess.

Gohan is accurate I believe. Its the same as "Han" Solo.

As for the Mistress thing.....

Dear God this is appaling, it doesn't even fit in with the english voices we had for the show in the UK. Does Toonami even watch these before putting them on.

The good thing is their Uncut

I don't speak the language...but a few of those voices don't sound half bad. Yamcha sounded like it fit. Though a lot of them did sound terrible.

Totally agree. At first it was funny, but.. its a little... degrading now.

''As far as I'm concerned as long as they do there Karate exercises, they can call it what they want...''

Though seriously, I'm not sure if it's so bad. It's comerical, stupid, and so bad it's funny. :P

Regarding both UK dubs I have a question. I've heard about how they and other anime that didn't really air in North America usually had North American actors. Why is that? Or is there a thought that British anime fans don't want to hear their native accents in an anime?
