Genkidama's Success Rate

Post by successoroffate » Fri Mar 31, 2017 11:53 am

So, although I'm not good with numbers (Law school), maybe we could have some fun determining the Genkidama's success rate percentage.
If we take into account Z, GT, and the movies, there are a total of 10 Genkidamas (counting Turles as 2). For sampling purposes, There are two genkidamas that I am not going to consider: The first one at King Kai's and Android 13s. We are counting as success, any genkidama that defeated an enemy for good.

Hit = Kills
Miss= Target Survived.

King Kai's Planet 1st Genkidama. 0
1. Against Vegeta. Miss
2. Freeza. Miss.
3. Buu. Hit
4. Omega. Hit.
5. Dr. Willow (Dr. Wheelo.) Hit
6. Turles 1st. Miss.
7. Turles 2nd. Hit.
8. Slug. Hit.
Android 13. 0

8 Attempts, 5 hits: We divide 5 Hits by 8 Attempts we get a Success Rate 0.625 which roughly equals to 63%.

Any thoughts, any better formulas? Should I include King Kai's and Android 13's?

Well, 13 is a success technically, and so is the one on Kaio's planet.

Besides that, there are other 2 Genkidamas (sort of) in the series:

The one Goku does against Super Hatchiyack on the playdia version of the Plan to Erradicate the Saiyans (which is a success)
and
Trunks using the Genkidama as a sword against merged Zamasu, which hits, and should have killed Zamasu, but he is inmortal, so maybe counts as miss.
If we count all of them (even Trunks' GenkiSword), the Success rate jumps to 67%

There's also the one thrown at Dr. Wheelo.

I mean..... Freeza's definitely absolutely didn't miss. It just wasn't enough to kill him. Vegeta's initial throw was definitely a miss. However the rebound shot was definitely a hit. So it's at least like asterisk worthy.

I think that they need a more reliable finisher if there's only a 63% success rate.

When I said Miss, I meant completely killing the enemy.

Not all of those that hit were full powered. The first that Goku threw at Tullece was powered from a planet that had been drained and the one that hit Vegeta had lost much of its strength when Great Ape Vegeta hit Goku with that blast.
