Yes, it is. The way Freeza is punching Goku is really unatural, his hand is badly drawn and Goku looks like a tube man. It lacks impact.
2/10 one of the worst trolls I've seen yet.
The episode didn't really have much movements going on, but the art was great, the details in Karasawa's art are incredible, and holy shit I loved this transformation, way better than the movie. The rotations were amazing and it worked so well.
The best supervisor is back, hopefully for more than just this episode.
Really solid episode. The art was hardly ever iffy and Karasawa's artwork really shone through in the second half. There wasn't much movement, but what we got was definitely solid.
Also here's the Frieza transformation, which I presume was done by Karasawa, could anyone confirm that for me?(removed the reaction shots)

Not the most crazy thing ever, and definitely not a good as Tates transformation in #91, but still really solid stuff.

For me it's not also the way they animated it but the music and the transitions to the arena. So in a way that was better than Ribrianne's transformation. Not animation wise but in general terms of direction...

I swallow my words, this really ended great in the actual episode, this shot was just for one second or less on screen, the animation there was pretty good.

I think you're the troll here, pal. My comment was before the initial raw broadcast in Japan and I was just commenting about the picture as a whole without even knowing how was in the actual episode.
Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
hi guys first post on Kanznenshuu, decided to make an account just for this thread
Karasawa sure did make a spectacular return, his art looked soooo good this episode. He seems to have changed his cheek shading though and it seems to be a mix of the rounded and angular shading, I was just wanting to know what some people's thoughts were on this change, I for one really like it

Welcome to the forum
If you've been following this thread, then you should probably already know that practically everyone, even the more pessimistic of us, really like Karasawa's artstyle and I think I can saftely say that his output this episode was no exception.
Fantastic transformation in the climax as pointed out by many! I know Karasawa supervised the last half but do you guys know who animated the transformation? Pretty cool background animation, fx and rotations!
The shot with Piccolo landing and his left leg in the foreground and the shot with Gokuu outside Baba's palace looking at it should've been thirty seconds long with only sound effects for the audio. That would have built tension and saved resources.
Also, brilliant shading in this scene! I noticed they've started using the dark gradient more often to make the shapes pop more, cool.

Holy fuck so this how an apology feels like! That Golden Freeza's transformation was even better than the Movie version!!
Unlike the Movie, we even see his body changing here. Just like Kale's transformations from the Opening they will probably use this one as bank animation for the Tournament.
By far one the best villains transformations in the franchise. ROF arc could only dream in achieving such quality.
It's so good to have one of the (If not the) best DBS supervisors back after 20+ episodes of absence. Welcome back, Yuichi Karasawa. I've missed you so much!
Everything looked cool and I can't for his big episode in the Tournament.
Now I'm waiting for Yuya Takahashi, Yamamuro and Otsuka Ken to show up as key animators at least once in the Tournament.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota
The Freeza transformation was fantastic but it would have been much more impactful if we hadn't seen him transform last episode. Perhaps they'll use this scene as BANK animation?
Higashide hasn"t popped up in a while, has he? What's the last thing he did, Goku vs Kuririn?
HIshagshide has popped up here and there but his presence has not been felt as greatly as beginning of this arc. Young ce Tu seems to have greater presence than him now.

It makes more sense to use this as BANK. Since Karasawa himself did it then it not only saves on time for his episode, but also for a future episode. It's also a killer way to end an episode.

Then how does that make him the troll?
You should also watch the episode before you start criticizing shots that arent even that bad, and literally have nothing close to "Horrendous" to them.

Dont be the guy posting screen-caps from episode 5 and then saying it's "shit" from that. instead of looking at how the animation flows, we have this entire thread to be slightly better than that.
The episode was beautiful. Extremely solid art, extremely solid animation, does anybody have a webm of Goku training outside Baba's place? that was nice animation there.
