New packages for SBC figs?

Post by TGDweezl » Tue May 18, 2004 7:31 pm

I'm been scrounging about eBay and have found Super Vegeta 4 and Perfect Son Goku (Vol. 00) in different packages than their originals. I e-mailed Bandai to see if they were legit and they didn't answer me. Can anyone tell me if these are legit boxes so I can not worry when I order them?

You should provide a link to pictures of the boxes....

Here's a look at the Vol.00 Son Goku.

As you can see it says Bandai made it in 2002 but I thought the SBC figs were made in the mid-late ninties? I could be wrong but if someone can clear this up I'd be very happy.

Hmmmmm, could be a re-release, but the fact that it's Hong Kong could be an indication that it's a bootleg.

B-kun: "What?"

It being from Hong Kong doesn't usually make it a bootleg. A large portion of the authentic stuff is shipped from there. Try and find some Japanese toy sites and see if you can find the same package.

I have dug around on a few sites and haven't seen the different boxes. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places? Any got any suggestions?

They're reissues. The figures are repainted and the boxes are brand spankin' new. They've release almost all of the GT figures, and are just now releasing some of the Z ones.

I know this may sound rude but can you provide some proof of this? I'd like to see for myself that it's a reissue before I go bid on them on eBay......mmmmm....Perfect Goku Vol.00

There was an article about them in Beckett a few months ago... I might be willing to scan it if you wish, but you might have to wait a day or two. That's the only "proof" I can provide, as the website I first read it on is dead :(
