Ginyu's pose from Super when he was in Tagoma's body.

Feels like I'm just repeating myself... It's a pass, it consists crap they will develop after the games' release. ArcSys is not Capcom. The consumer has every right to not buy it in advance. In fact DLC chars will be likely released seperatedly too.LightBing wrote:It's dishonest to sell new content when your game won't even be released for three months. The consumer has every right to ask why isn't this in the game at release. Besides the problem that people don't know what they are signing up for, is it Broly? Or are they being cute and getting an invited character from Guilty Gear. There's a lot of problems with this approach.KayDash wrote:Selling a part of the finished game seperatedly as a DLC sucks, just as microtransactions which break the games' balance. That's exactly what these companies think thanks to use supporting them. People always complain about DLC and microtransactions yet they buy them.
But a season pass is paying for newly made content. Don't seeing how that is wrong. The alternative of a season pass is abandoning DBFZ's development, and moving to an other project.
It's perfectly fine to sell extra content but only if it's in fact extra and of course if it's fairly priced.
And yes, stop preordering from companies that are untrustable.

Regarding the season pass, just as long as they don't pull a Capcom by announcing the first DLC character a month after release, then I'm cool.

Where is the problem with the season pass?
Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" (PS4/XBO/PC, 2018, Arc System Works) Official Discussion Thread
They could very well already have 30 characters made and left Tenshinhan for last. It's not really indicative of anything. I wouldn't be surprised if their marketing team or whoever is analysing which non-essential characters to the game would have more value as a DLC sell.Nickolaidas wrote:Tien was not done when they revealed him. I doubt the DLC characters will be ready at January (though Capcom *did* pull that shit with MvC Infinite), but the reason they announce DLC ahead of time is to give you incentive to buy the deluxe edition. If anyone doesn't like it, they're free to refrain themselves from buying the game until it's on sale and 100% finished. I sure as heck have a HUGE backlog of games and I can wait a couple of years before buying yet another game.
I know the consumer has the choice in the end, I still need to criticize what is in my opinion a dishonest approach.
Nowadays waiting for games is the best, this game will be a exception for me. I have been anticipating a Dragon Ball game like this since I was a teen and the quality seems amazing.
I'm not familiar with ArcSys DLC model, I'm just criticizing this particular approach which I disagree with. Let's see how soon and how this is released, maybe I'll chance my speech.KayDash wrote:Feels like I'm just repeating myself... With the exception of Zamasu and maybe Super Boo, if they don't deliver another Boo in the main game, I would be happy with this. Excellent DLC material even if I would rather substitute some characters there.Nickolaidas wrote:My predictions on the DLC:

Season passes have always and will always be bullshit. I don't see how it deserves an outrage now. Not to mention ArcSys are the worst in the industry at DLC, with the biggest prices for the lowest amount of content. Blazblue is the most expensive fighting game series and Guilty Gear the most expensive one of this generation. Bandai is probably the only reason why this game is shaping up as packed as it is.
I don't see what the dealbreaker is. You people knew or should have known about this. As exciting the news were about the gameplay of this game, this stuff was not only on the table, but to be expected. It doesn't even sound that bad. It's not like ArcSys are the Jesus Christ of gaming; the greatness of their games comes for quite the high price. At least you're sure to get your money's worth, unlike with other companies.

Funny you mentioned that. ArcSys had a nasty habit of releasing a 'Super' version of the vanilla game (which was basically the same game with a new story mode and 2-3 new characters) and charge it AS A FULL GAME. Then next year they would release ANOTHER newer version with 2-3 new characters and a new story mode (with was mostly still character portraits and text), and charge it a full game.LightBing wrote: I'm not familiar with ArcSys DLC model, I'm just criticizing this particular approach which I disagree with. To be honest, if they add 8 characters a year and charge them around 40 bucks, it would be a great improvement for ArcSys standards.

I get why you are dissappointed in this, my point, that I think I failed to phrase properly is that the character pass also means, that ArcSys really intends to still keep going on after the game's release, and keeping it alive with new content. This is a great thing.LightBing wrote:I'm not familiar with ArcSys DLC model, I'm just criticizing this particular approach which I disagree with. Now if they do what Capcom did with MvC Infinite and Street Fighter x Tekken, and just holding back finished characters for a DLC, that's a shame, and I'm also strongly against it.

Not surprised by the season pass, and I can understand why people would be upset. I mean, the business practice behind season passes is basically cutting out content from the game and selling it back to you for an inflated price. I'm hoping there is more to season pass than just characters. If it's anything like the awesome post launch support that Xenoverse 2 has gotten, I'm all up for it.

It's not actually sure if Capcom held back finished characters for MvC Infinite. The claim comes from only one source. Some modders unlocked Black Panther and Monster Hunter (who are DLC) who appear in the story mode and only Monster Hunter was actually complete and basically ready for release. Sure, Capcom might have included an unfinished version of the character in the game knowing this might happen, but I don't get why not do it for everybody then. This makes me suspicious of the claim.KayDash wrote: I get why you are dissappointed in this, my point, that I think I failed to phrase properly is that the character pass also means, that ArcSys really intends to still keep going on after the game's release, and keeping it alive with new content. SFxT was years ago and Capcom learned from that, so still holding them accountable for that isn't really fair, especially when SFV is the best fighting game platform on the market right now.
I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if everything was true, but I think we shouldn't go around singing Capcom's shittyness without concrete proof as a way to defend another company's buisness practice. Hell, even if Capcom is a pile of shit it doesn't excuse ArcSys from being a smaller pile of shit (which, again, I don't think they are either way).

No it's not, at least not for most games. Season Passes are just preordering DLC that is still in development, often times what exactly that DLC will be isn't even finalized yet. I can guarantee the DLC characters for FighterZ are not characters that were cut from the game just to be sold at a later date.Lord Beerus wrote:Not surprised by the season pass, and I can understand why people would be upset. Anyways, each individual character is probably going to cost 5 bucks, so the season pass saves you 5 bucks.

I bet the season pass will include the actual new characters that people will want to play as.
Of course they'll shove Nappa and Captain Ginyu in the main game because after being in a couple dozen games already, nobody gives a shit about them but you just watch people like Hit, Frost, Zamasu, Goku Black, maybe even Jiren and Toppo will be in the season pass because that's who people would most be interested in.
They already pulled that stunt with Xenoverse 2.

Xenoverse 2's plan was already finished before the devs even knew that Super was going to be a thing, they rushed their asses off to even get Hit, Black and Super Trunks in the game at launch, they did not purposely hold Super characters back for DLC.Bullza wrote:I bet the season pass will include the actual new characters that people will want to play as.

I have to say there was a massive miscommunication from Bandai's PR department. I believe they've done an absolutely abysmal job informing consumers about the pricing and features of the game.
There's the confusion between all the different versions of the game and what comes with what content. In particular the "Ultimate edition" containing all the content DLC whereas the pricier "Collector's editon" lacking all of it. This has become standard with lots of other AAA games this generation (and apparently even with Xenoverse in past) but it's still incredibly confusing and in many people's eyes seen as greedy business practice. It's nowhere near Collector's edition which lack the game but it's pretty ridiculous that you'd have to pay close to 200 dollars if you wanted the collector's edition and all the DLC currently announced.
Probably what's the biggest problem about all this confusion is already announcing DLC characters. Most just assumed but the fact we already have 8 confirmed as DLC has rubbed many people the wrong way. Many are already coming off Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite which blatantly cut characters whose models are already on disc, in story-mode, and completed to serve as DLC. And just in the context of FighterZ news itself, this news came before the full base roster is seemingly announced. I'm assuming Ginyu and Nappa aren't the last but there's no one from Bandai, to my knowledge, clarifying this.
I can sort of understand why they're charging more for the anime's music since they told fans at E3 that they would work on it and there were no plans for it initially. I don't know why the Sparking series had all of it free of charge but whatever I can't claim to know how the licensing for it works behind the scenes.
However the rest of the DLC has killed lots of my enthusiasm for this game. I'll wait and see how this continues developing but Bandai has most certainly soured me on the game for no particularly adequate reason. I'm not particularly interested if the season pass is better than most, all of it seems rather greedy on Bandai's part.

Working on ToP characters right now is not even a good idea. Xenoverse 2 had base level Goku Black pushed into the game in the last moment, before the actual anime was done, that he was based on, and the devs had to came up with moves for him, because there weren't a proper source material yet. English localization team also got no information about the character, and how they should go about the dub.Bullza wrote:I bet the season pass will include the actual new characters that people will want to play as.

I'd rather have a Jiren or Kalifla later with their full moveset implemented properly from the anime. As things look right now, there might even be a better alternative for Kalifla...
Because she is about to fuse with Kale in Ep.115, if everything turns out true.
How were they able to get Goku Black in the game when he debuted in the anime in mid June 2016 but then they couldn't get Champa and Vados in the game when they debuted in the series 8 months prior in early November 2015?ArchedThunder wrote:Xenoverse 2's plan was already finished before the devs even knew that Super was going to be a thing, they rushed their asses off to even get Hit, Black and Super Trunks in the game at launch, they did not purposely hold Super characters back for DLC.

Because Black, even at that point, was an actual fighter who you could easily make a moveset for. (And already showed things like Ki-Blade and the like). Champa and Vados on the other hand didn't have anything going on for them, hell I still consider their inclusion pretty shitty.Bullza wrote:How were they able to get Goku Black in the game when he debuted in the anime in mid June 2016 but then they couldn't get Champa and Vados in the game when they debuted in the series 8 months prior in early November 2015?ArchedThunder wrote:Xenoverse 2's plan was already finished before the devs even knew that Super was going to be a thing, they rushed their asses off to even get Hit, Black and Super Trunks in the game at launch, they did not purposely hold Super characters back for DLC.

Because Goku black was a clone of Goku, so he didn't require too much effort. Look at the version of Hit that the launched with, he was pretty basic and didn't really become a good character until they updated him later on.Bullza wrote:
