Not really. The first half of Kai, they did every so often, but not a lot, but all the Buu Saga had was the 2-minute scene that was supposed to guest star them. Super doesn't have any as far as I can see.Attitudefan wrote:Have they really added TFS-homage lines in the actual Buu Kai dub (and Super?)?MR.Mark wrote:That, and the half assed editing, shitty cropping, and TFS like lines here and there.(wrooooong, just saiyin etc) It's watchable, but still drags and is very messy.

Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Was TFS a thing when First Half Kai aired?

TFS released their first episode around that time Kai debuted.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Was TFS a thing when First Half Kai aired?

As far as I'm concerned any TFS line put into a non parody official dub is wrong.Attitudefan wrote:Have they really added TFS-homage lines in the actual Buu Kai dub (and Super?)?MR.Mark wrote:That, and the half assed editing, shitty cropping, and TFS like lines here and there.(wrooooong, just saiyin etc) It's watchable, but still drags and is very messy.

What makes that any better than this?MR.Mark wrote:As far as I'm concerned any TFS line put into a non parody official dub is wrong.

Or this?
Or, dare I say... This?
I'm definitely too harsh on Funimation in general, but you can't deny they put a lot of unnecessary liberties in their dub scripts. TFS meme lines are no different from "Totally pwn'd", "Get the smelling salts, Krillin!", or anything else of that ilk.
Having said that, one plus side to all this is that Funimation's Final Chapters dub essentially confirms that the Boo arc takes place in 2007.

The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

Having no bias in either direction (or dub) helps.
Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...
Actually, they started in 2008. According to its wiki, it started June 6, 2008, while Kai premiered in Japan on April 5, 2009. By the time Kai premiered, they were almost done with season 1. In fact, they were 1 episode (that was 3 parts) away from finishing Season 1.Attitudefan wrote:TFS released their first episode around that time Kai debuted.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Was TFS a thing when First Half Kai aired?

I see. Although, if I remember correctly, it took forever for episode 2 to be released. Episode 1 existed for a long time as a standalone.Scsigs wrote:Actually, they started in 2008. Looking back on videos of Drummond doing Vegeta's voice at cons, I've noticed that his voice sounds way deeper than in the Saban and Westwood dubs and even in his clip of Copy Vegeta, so he'll probably sound like that in Kai.

Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?
Super Saiyan Prime wrote:It's an edited, cynically produced, cheap recut with a poorly utilized ancient score and awful scene recreations that later got traded in for a weird green tint.
The story of Kai's production is far more interesting than the actual product.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...
So, I wonder how much Drummond's slightly different portrayal of Vegeta in Funimation's Super dub was influenced by just how he plays the part these days(And thus, how he'll sound in Ocean Kai), and how much was down to the way he was directed by Sabat.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.
