Come on now, Xenoverse's story is 100% grade A wasted potential. There's infinite possibilities of crazy timeline alterations they could do and yet all they do with it is constantly getting the heroes killed because the current villain of the arc got a power up. They only use Xenoverse's premise as an excuse to do Raditz-to-Buu for the umpteenth time, only now with a self-insert. The reason people are tired of Xenoverse is because it's the exact same shit they've been doing since Budokai 1 with a new coat of paint. I have a few problems with FighterZ's story, but it blows Xenoverse out of the water solely based on the fact that it isn't retreading the same material again.Grimlock wrote:If you got tired of Xenoverse then it is your problem, but you can't talk for everyone. Xenoverse sales speaks otherwise.
As for that bit, no. Android 21 and all of the content she brings along with her is very interesting indeed (far more than the main series, in reality) but still not enough to "blow" Xenoverse.

Crap probably won't have the game until early February. I guess I waited long enough a few more weeks won't do harm.
Thank you to the people using the spoiler feature, I have been able to avoid learning about the core story.
Just one question regarding all the roasting and other weird choices, is it just in the dub? Is it like Goku saying "finally" to Gohan, something added that wasn't present in Japanese or is most of it from the source?

For the life of me, I cannot comprehend that people will be put off buying a top-quality video game because they are worried about some dialogue that buries Yamcha. Fair enough he could be a favourite of yours - but this just seems a thoroughly ludicrous concept to me.

Wait, are you talking about people getting tired of Xenoverse or "there was little to no improvement"? Because it's two different subjects, and both are not accurate at all.Noah wrote:We know here you're biased when the subject is either XENOVERSE or HEROES, so no point in trying to argue about it. Sales don't change the fact that many thought there was little to no improvement in the game story from the previous installment.

Most of it seems to be in the source, going by the facial expressions of the characters. And the "finally" was removed.LightBing wrote:Crap probably won't have the game until early February. I guess I waited long enough a few more weeks won't do harm.

"Little to no improvement" regarding the story of its predecessor not the gameplay. Without spoling, would you guys recommend buying this game day one? You know I'm a huge DB fan or I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't have 2600+ posts. My main concern is that I could get bored of this game really fast, especially if the multiplayer becomes a game where the dude who can pull of the longest combo wins. I don't care about getting my ass smashed by better players but I would at least hope it doesn't happen because they need just 1 long combo to kill off each of my characters.
I remember liking Burst Limit's multiplayer, because that game was easy to learn, but it was still very hard to beat better players who just knew what to do and when to do it, and had the timing for teleports down to perfection. I hate Xenoverse 2 MP with passion. Ass for FighterZ's beta, I liked it although it was in a state where nobody still knew OP combos.
TL;DR I hate neverending combos where I just have to put my controller down and enjoy my opponent having fun. I hope FighterZ isn't like that.

My biggest issue with the story is that the first half was pretty much identical to XV1 except two or three more added fights. But that's more appropriate for the XV2 thread.Noah wrote:"Little to no improvement" regarding the story of its predecessor not the gameplay. The possibility to play 1v1 in arcade mode...? Specially when you do have 1v1 fights in story mode.supersaiyanZero wrote:The game was created and balanced with 3v3 in mind, so I don't know what you were expecting.
You don't need to tell me anything in regards to what's important to me. The Budokai series provided me with customizable 1v1 fights. Burst Limit allowed me to disable drama pieces/assists for pure 1v1 fights. Was expecting this one to give me options too. It doesn't, apparently.supersaiyanZero wrote:But if this is the only factor that stops you from getting the best dragonball game of all time, I don't know what to tell you.

Hey, on steam, they have three different versions for dragon ball fighterZ:
List:
•Dragon ball FighterZ
•Dragon ball FighterZ: FighterZ edition
•Dragon ball Fighter Z:Ultimate Edition
Which of them should I get? What's the difference between the three (besides money)?
I was planning on getting three games plus an Nintendo switch, FighterZ was suppose one of the three, but they don't have a switch version.

The FighterZ Edition includes the game and the FighterZ Pass, which adds 8 new mighty characters to the roster. (DLC)
The ultimate one is like the Z edition but you'll also get anime music pack and commentator voice pack.

Hard to say yet because the game is not out yet but surely some skill players will likely manage to come up with 100% combos in the future but I doub you will these type of combos being pulled off on a regular basis by the casual players.emperior wrote:Without spoling, would you guys recommend buying this game day one? The fact such a gameplay mechanic exist turns me off a little to be honest. I know fighting games fans love their long combos but I would prefer it if the game was simpler and based more on reactions and good timing, like Burst Limit was. I think I will buy the game and see if I like it though, it's way too gorgeous for me to pass up and all the reviewers are praising it so it can't really be a bad buy for a Dragon Ball fan like myself.Neo-Makaiōshin wrote:Hard to say yet because the game is not out yet but surely some skill players will likely manage to come up with 100% combos in the future but I doub you will these type of combos being pulled off on a regular basis by the casual players.emperior wrote:Without spoling, would you guys recommend buying this game day one? Well, I`ll be saying it one last time because I don`t want to run of repeating things.Night Owl wrote:For the life of me, I cannot comprehend that people will be put off buying a top-quality video game because they are worried about some dialogue that buries Yamcha. The issue is not roasting. I would rather the humor was kept on a minimum instead of a parody-like presentation but despite that, it`s not the issue, it`s what it is.
Everybody gets roasted in the game, even Cell gets put on his place in one cutscene by Bulma as if the two are dating. Now, I don`t view Yamcha as a sacred cow. If there is one character, even more than Goku that is protected like that by nearly everyone: devs, Toryama and Toei, that`s Bulma. No, the issue is that Yamcha is roasted and he`s the only one so far lacking a properly clean comeback. There`s scenes where he goes neck to neck (Piccolo and 18) but the perception, like in the Piccolo one, is that the last call is always from the other character, not him. The closest is actually this scene with Nappa where he seems to lose his chill at the end with Nappa looking bug-eyed at him
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxWVGQ_bLe8
That may change, obviously, not his entire story mode is available yet.
Lastly, when did anyone here say they wouldn`t buy the game because of it? Speaking for myself, I recall saying my interested dropped because I was really hyped they would play it straight and have been enjoying the whole development of the game, not that I would pass it up.

Okay and that is their perrogative. I saw plenty people here be clearly concerned with just one line from Goku in the dub towards Gohan, so..Night Owl wrote:At least one person in the thread bullet pointed the treatment of Yamcha as a concern before buying the game.Olympian wrote: Lastly, when did anyone here say they wouldn`t buy the game because of it? Fans are passionate and Yamcha fans are likely tired of devs and creators beating the same dead-horse every year in because Toryama can`t bother to give him something and yet keeps using him around because he`s popular enough. It`s hard to be a fan of any character in those conditions. I wouldn`t mind half as much as long he had some development and it wouldn`t even need to be of a protagonist level.
Vegeta, Yamcha and Kuririn are the three most meme characters of the whole main cast and have been for decades but the other two are awarded cool moments to even that out. Yamcha isn`t. That`s what makes him the easy target out of everyone.

Well, RB2 have better visuals (obviously), defending is better, but online gameplay is somewhat glitchy at times and the lack of a decent story mode is a minus to me.Hyena_Yamcha wrote:How is it compared to Raging blast 2? in your opinion.
I say BT3 is still a far better game than RB2.
