Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

The answer is simple.

The power level increases during the freeza saga and beyond make no sense.

Hell, look at dragon ball. Goku goes through all that training for his whole life, and by the time he is in his early twenties his powerlevel is only like 402 or something, but then he trains with Kaio-Sama and suddenly his powerlevel is over 9000.

I think Toryiama just wasn't paying attention at all.

Because training under a god shouldn't give massive benefits.

Goku makes that kinda power increase in a couple of months and then in two months he goes from a couple dozen thousand to 150 million. Wow!!

Yeah, but he also trained with Kami, who is also a god, and only went from 260 to likely somewhere in the 300's. Cause even 5 years later he was still only 416 and Roshi pointed out he was even stronger than he had been at the Budokai.

I think the only reason the powers got so absurd so fast was becuase of Raditz. Raditz's power of 1,200 set a bar that numbers had to be big to be a challenge and start off the 'asscent' of the powers in Z at too high a level. With Goku at 416 and Piccolo at 408 I think a better power for Raditz would have been 500 at best.

And as seen with later battles in the series this would make the outcome of the battle more believable. Raditz was nearly three times as powerful as Goku or Piccolo so he should have stomped all over them. Yes, they could generate attacks even more powerful than them, but this also creates issues later on. Piccolo, at 408, could make a Special Beam Cannon as powerful as 1,330. That's about 3.26x greater.

So Piccolo fighting against Freeza, at a power of greater than over 1 million should have been able to create a Special Beam Cannon of over 3.26 million. Great enough to punch a hole right through 4th form Freeza's head. If Goku and Piccolo could have taken Raditz at the difference they were at Piccolo, Gohan, and Vegeta should have been able to handle 4th form Freeza as well.

So with Raditz at 500 Nappa should have been 1,000 and Vegeta maybe at 3,500. Dodoria and Zarbon at around the 5,000 level, Ginyu would have been somewhere around 20,000 and Freeza's full power would have been the power 'greater than 1 million'. Oh well.

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Your logic is something that I have been talking about for years, yet no one ever agreed with me.
I said that hypothetically, If Super Buu's power level was 1,000,000 Then if Ultimate Gohan's Power level was 2,000,000, he would have completely stomped him, logically speaking. But most people think a difference in a million isn't enough of a gap for someone to dominate another.

Like lets say
Ultimate Gohan: 525,000,000
Super Buu: 524,000,000

Apparently that just isn't enough. Cause a difference of A MILLION doesn't mean anything.

I think someone should write up a list of reduced more logical power levels, hell I might even do it.

Differences between powerlevels is what shows who can do what to whom. 2,000,000/1,000,000 = 2x difference. 525,000,000/524,000,000 = 1.0019084x difference. Practically equal, heck, stalemate. Smaller than the difference between Goku (416) and Piccolo (408).

I think your putting too much math into it, if you go just by raw strength it wouldn't be a contest.

See someone who can bench 200lbs isn't even close to as strong as someone who can bench 300lbs.

I always figured powerlevels went by pure strength, and it really had nothing to do with mathematical equations.
