Well, to be fair, it's a sensitive issue, so people naturally have strong opinions. That said, I agree that things did start getting a little unnecessarily aggressive. I think this is the part where I slowly back away from the thread...

I think Baki's dub was already finished, but Bungou Stray Dogs will have a new season this year, so is very likely to Ranpo get a new voice.

I'm sorry, but... wut!? I don't know of Dragon Ball being produced by queers. Toriyama isn't a queer, or any of Toei's producers as far as I know. Just an example.
Also, Japan is a pretty conservative country. It makes no sense on saying that most anime creators and producers are queers, left-wingers or anything similar.

What a fucking cornball.

There is a difference between saying the simple truth about an ideology, and defend it. Truth is truth, and socialist regimes really were pretty evil with minorities in the past. This has nothing to do with my own political view, but with truth and history.
Ideology itself, either way, is just a question of opinion. In an independent way of how political ideologies are, you can like them or not.
But that was never the point of this discussion. Vic Mignogna gropping people has nothing to do with right-wing or left-wing. This is what I'm trying to say, and what you guys are distorting.
So no, I'm not a fucking cornball.

As I said, there is difference between saying the truth and defend an ideology. You can defend regulating laws and taxes, that is ideology. But you can't say that old socialist regimes were good to minorities, that is just history and truth.
Again, Vic Mignogna gropping people has nothing to do with this. Our colleague is the one that started it saying that is supposedly inaproprieate to right-wingers being attracted by anime since anime is mostly produced by left-wingers and queers, witch is obviouly not the truth. Right-wing or left-wing has nothing to do with that.

As you are a voice actor in LA, can you tell us how this thing is going on in LA Studios? I asked before about Studiopolis (where Vic has two recent big roles), but what about Bang Zoom and other places? Will they fire him soon?

SaintEvolution, I'm not sure if you're not a native English speaker, but your posts are borderline incomprehensible. Furthermore, yeah, you totally did pull the "here are my gross political views; now don't you turn around and make this about politics" card right out of the standard playbook. Again, ain't flying here.

Probably once he's finished recording his role as Rohan Kishibe in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It'd be hard to recast him at the moment considering he's a sizable role and Toonami is already well into Part 4.
I also go by "veemonjosh".

I'm not native english speaker, but I'm also in a hurry. Just passed here to ask something and then I was involved in this discussion about ideology. Not having so much time to review my posts and write them better. And you don't need to be rude, as you are being now, and as you were before calling other commentaries (even some of mine) here with beautiful words such as "bizarre".
And, again, I didn't pulled any political view. But it seems that you guys are wanting to gain this haranguing the referee, so, I will try to not talk about this anymore. Congratulations, you win this.

I've already knew it about Rohan, but he still has other roles in LA. I'm curious to know what will happen to them too, as Ranpo Edogawa in the next BSD season.

There are a
lot of people working on Dragon Ball in various capacities, so it stands to reason that not all of them are necessarily straight & cis.
Besides which, there's a very long history of LGBTQ+ characters and themes in anime (sometimes... spotty, sometimes quite progressive). Some produced and/or distributed by Toei, and Funimation has dubbed plenty in North America. Hell, take a look at a listing of LGBT+ characters in animation and you'll see Japan has
much higher representation there than most other countries.

A voice actor isn't likely to have any inside information on hiring practices for an entire industry... It's like any business: generally that's kept between management and maybe the employee in question until any decision becomes public. Most employees don't even know if
their own employment status is about to change until it happens.

Bryesque is exactly right. I'm just a voice actor, not a production exec, so it's not up to me whether he gets fired or not. I honestly don't know. Each studio will have to choose whether to continue working with him or not, I suppose. They may, they may not. I've never recorded at Studiopolis, so I can't speak to what they will do, and while I have recorded at Bang-Zoom several times, I haven't recorded there often enough to be in the "inner circle" and hear whispers about what the upper management thinks about all this. So, it could go either way.
Let's put it this way, I guarantee you there's no way they won't hear about this controversy, and that's making the unbelievably generous assumption that they haven't heard about it already. Will they
consider firing him? Well, rumors from fans is one thing, but between actual voice actors speaking up about this and FUNimation parting ways with him, it's certainly a possibility.

I can agree about the characters. There are a lot of gay and queer characters in anime, really.
About the creators/producers/staff, for sure not all of them are straight, but for what I know about Japan and the anime industry, most of them are.
And I know that BlackPaladin doesn't know everything that happens in the industry, but as a voice actor, he maybe knows something that happened behind the scenes, or heared something about it. He is not obligated to know something and I know that. Just questioned him something, and if he doesn't anything know about it, it's fairly okay.

I've heard that Monica Rial is now being targeted and harassed online for speaking out against Vic. This is really upsetting.

Yeah, it seems she’s screenshotting them and supposedly sending them to the authorities.

I'm at work right now, so I'm not going to write a novel. Go read the works of Saitou Tamaki on Otaku and queer theory.

Rial was being harassed from the start, for she's just now responding to the tweets for some reason. She's copypasting stuff telling them that she's screencapping their tweets to send to her attorney, but I'm not exactly sure why since that would just make them more likely to delete them. Surely a tweet that is there is worth more than a screenshot of one that used to be.

Has Vic lost several thousand followers on Twitter? He's currently in the 80K range and I swear he was in the 90K range a week or so ago but I can't recall for sure.

Sean straight-up hates Vic. And he has for quite a number of years (at least since the beginning of the Kai dub, but he made it sound like it goes back far longer than that). He more or less said so in some posts on his Facebook fan page, which he took down a few weeks after the Kai dub began airing on Nicktoons. In the interest of providing context, what prompted him to share his feelings about Vic was when people started making mash-up videos of "Dragon Soul" featuring Sean and Vic's versions being sung side-by-side. A fan asked Sean what he thought about those videos, and he said that while he doesn't blame any fans for making them, he really didn't like them because he didn't want to be associated with Vic in any way he didn't have to be. He said he wasn't going to elaborate in the interest of not stirring up a bunch of unnecessary drama, but after all this coming out, I think he feels like he can be a little more open about it.
You know, that might explain why the official Dragon Soul mixes had Sean, Justin, and Greg in Version 7 and Vic, Sonny, and Brina in Version 8. You'd think Vic would otherwise be part of the first three singers.

I mean, Vic's is the best, & Sean's is the second best, so it'd make sense to put them together. Maybe they didn't want to because the fan edit came out first?

The best one was the Japanese, and only it.
All the dub versions were equally terrible. Why did they have voice actors sing it like it was a drunken karaoke competition...
Dragon Ball Kai wasn't supposed to be a parody, and this was disservice to the original song
