I actually asked Scott McNeil about this when I met him at my first con in 02. He said that in Europe or somewhere they continued dubbing the series after FUNi had gone down to Texas. In November of last year I went to a panel on what happened to Geneon and one of the people holding it was from FUNi. I asked him after the panel why the discrepancy between here and Europe and was told that the European dub was handled by another company who decided to go with the Ocean Group for their voices.
It's been a while so I might have minced some of the finer details, but that's pretty much what I know.
As for finding it, if you look up Brian Drummond on youtube you should be able to find a guy who has Cell-era clips with the Ocean group, mostly centering on Veg. Other people pop up at times. What I really want is to get my hands on a choice few of these episodes- ones with a lot of Scott Pic, because he fills me with joy.

Anime is really not low rated in Europe, though it depends on where in Europe you live. Netherlands, yeah, anime has known better times here. But France... >.>

hey guys,
After thinking for a while. A few other question came into me.
Why wre there so many Japanese OST? Why isn't it all in one line.
The DUb only has 5 Bruce Faulconer CD's and I guess couple of single releases of the English Theme songs and Credit Songs.
But Japanese got so many why??
I had another question
, I know I'm annoying :p .
For those Fans who do not have Dragonbox or other DVD's from Japan.
How can they get their hands on the missing Credits/Endings wich were not provided by Toei for Funimation. Don't tell me to go look on youtube, I mean HQ.

A question that came up.
How is VIZ going to make only 14 volumes? I suppose they will put more chapters in one volume, so that will make it thicker. But then what's the use of it being bigger? even two times bigger then Kanzenban. They can't cut a page from the next page right?
If you get what I mean, because this is very hard to explain, pls reply.

Fair warning, the Ocean dub from the Trunks Saga on through Kid Buu..... sucks. Big time. Even formerly good voices got bad. And new ones? Ocean Trunks is awfull. 16, 17, and 18 are extremely crappy. Dabura sounds EXACTLY like Dinobot. About the only new voice Ocean added that I found any good was Videl's.Velasa wrote:As for finding it, if you look up Brian Drummond on youtube you should be able to find a guy who has Cell-era clips with the Ocean group, mostly centering on Veg. <Kaboom> I'm just glad that he now sounds more like Invader Zim than Rita Repulsa
<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Basically I'd watch it for Scott and Brian. Or just Scott. I'd be perfectly happy just fast-forwarding to every time that man opens his mouth.
.... though if you're right about the Dinobot thing I might have to hurt somebody. Because I love Dinobot, and long story that has nothing to do with cannon short, just thinking about that majin makes me so goddamn angry I can't think straight.

Japan has a much larger market for nerdy things for cartoons. Therefore, they can release various soundtracks of all kinds and they will still sell.shotkeeper wrote: Why wre there so many Japanese OST? Why isn't it all in one line.
It's just how things are.
As for the Dragonbox question, the answer most people will give you in regards to not having OPs and EDs is that they simply do not care/worry about it.
