SO turns out it wasn't actually Shuiesha - it was some dickhead with a vendetta just abusing the copyright reporting system.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I heard about this too, but it can't really be as clear cut as that. It's not enough that some random person goes around reporting things as copyright infringement, the reports have to actually be "accepted" as well, since malicious reporting happens constantly. Sites like Twitter have largely automated report systems, so those reports were either looked at directly by a Twitter bot and then DMCA striked, or they were sent to Shueisha, who in that case most likely also used some kind of bot which "accepted" most/all of them. In either case, this whole thing still happened because of bot business, it just means that the bot might not have been crawling through Twitter and reporting everything itself. Which does improve the situation in a small way, I guess...

Well I already deleted a good portion of my tweets from last year and it makes me more hesitant to tweet about Dragon Ball so I guess the damage is already done

I just saw on Twitter. It’s insane Twitter’s copyright system can be so easily abused but I doubt they will make any moves to fix it even after something like this

Hi I'm Shueisha and I'm 15 years behind the curve.

Find another way to make money in 2021 you clowns, because this shit will only make your situation worse.

Also noticed non of the big anime news outlets covered any of this. Anime News Network, Crunchyroll, when they usually post these piracy and DMCA-related news all the time but none of them even acknowledged the issue's existence.

Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Maybe people should stop posting manga scans and extended clips of the anime then. It was always rather obvious people were getting away from too much.
