I think he kept Nappa and Raditz around, because if he killed them he wouldn't have any followers. None of Freeza's men seemed to give a damn that he was the prince of the Saiya-jins, but Raditz and Nappa are Saiya-jins so they had to care.

I don't think that Vegeta would have killed Nappa. If Nappa hadn't be put out of commission by Goku, Vegeta would still have him around. Much like Freeza with Zarbon and Dodoria.

I don't think that Vegeta would have killed Nappa. If Nappa hadn't be put out of commission by Goku, Vegeta would still have him around. Much like Freeza with Zarbon and Dodoria.

Vegeta would not have kept Nappa around so long if he hadn't wanted to. Killing Nappa was a way for him to show his Saiya-jin pride and to intimidate his opponents, if Nappa hadn't embarrassed himself, he would still be around.
